Went to BFE to the Oh, Sleeper show last night. It was amazing, of course. This band played though called a kiss for jersey", worst name ever. But they were really good. The crowd sucked though and I could tell that they knew that. So I wanted to support them so I bought a cd. Definitely not as good as I thought, haha. I really don't like it.
But anyways. War of Ages played, and they were insane. The singer was talking about how he was abused sexually, mentally, physically, and that his dad was a heroin addict and the leader of a white supremacy group. He said "after everything I've gone through, the only thing that kept me alive was a hope I found in Jesus Christ." I wish everyone could see Him as that. As a hope, and not just some formula. Some check list. These preachers on t.v. keep making God out to be something money related, something only for the wealthy, something for those who are, in their own eyes, "pure". Makes me think of lyrics from Lecrae, "you told me come as I am but I smell like smoke, my whole life's full of sin 'cause it's all I know." It says "Come as you are", right there. It doesn't say, "come when I think you're good enough", because we're already good enough. From the day we were born we were good enough. Christianity isn't about cutting things from your life. It's about adding things. Adding things like, love for others, humility, inner peace, peace with your enemies, and total selflessness. For anyone who reads this, and has been turned away from Christianity and everything that has to do with it because of some fat old white guy who said "whoever tithes the most will get into heaven faster", on his behalf, I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry for most everything on the Christian television station. "His grace is new with every rising of the Sun."
MOSHERS
Here's one thing I really wanted to write about though. When dancing at shows first started, it was because people enjoyed the music so much that they wanted to move. They wanted to have fun, and get to know people they've never met before through something they both love. That is not how it is today. No one dances because they enjoy it, they dance because it gives them some sort of status. I was watching this kid at the show last night. He was standing by himself, kind of glancing at the pit every once in a while. Then another kid came up and said something to him, immediately he starts two stepping. Now, I was never a dancer but I've seen a lot of them before, and this kid looked like he had no idea what he was doing. Then he kept looking at the other kids for some sort of approval or something. It's really disgusting. Then there were these two younger kids watching them, and it looked like they wanted to try it out or something. So they get in there, and are just laughing and having fun. Then the other "real moshers" were looking at them like they were idiots. Then one kid did one of those fake punch things at the kids face, then another kid threw his hat at them. It's so stupid. It makes me so mad that probably 10% of those kids were actually there to see the bands.
What is going on?
