It's hard to believe that 6 weeks ago I gave birth to such a perfect little baby. He has grown soo much, almost double his birth weight at 9lbs 13oz. He has chubby little cheeks and dimples in his knees and elbows. There is also a dimple in his cheek that you can see when he smiles. Currently, his eyes are a gorgeous turquoise color, and his hair is still hard to tell, some days blond, others brown, but always with a definate reddish tint.
Poor guy had his first 'real' hospital visit on Sunday. We took him to the ER after talking to a nurse about some wheezing/chest congestion. They said that it sounds like reflux but to take him to the pediatritian asap. His doctor says that it could be that he's allergic to milk and so we switched his formula to a soy version. Hopefully it will help his tummy settle down, he's been in pain for several days now. The dr also cauterized his belly button again, it doesn't seem to be healing all the way. Hopefully this time it will dry up and I wont have to take him back in for it.
Traveling does not agree with him. He loves car rides, and always goes to sleep, but 10 hour rides aren't fun for him. I think I'm going to give it a couple months before we try again. He did like Washington though, got to meet the rest of his family (including a bunch of 'adopted' grandparents and aunts and uncles), except for one great grandma, but we're going to go see her on our trip in July. Everyone loved him (how could they not?!?). I was even nice enough to let Grandma Janice babysit for a couple hours while we went to the casino. She paid me even!! *laughs*
He is starting to respond more. He'll smile at you, and he coo'd for the first time the other day. Sometimes he'll discover a rattle that we put in his hand and shake it around. His attention span is very short, so nothing lasts long, but we have lots of toys that we play with. He can hold his head up already, but is still very wobbly, we call him a bobblehead ;)
I'm going to have him christened around the end of June. Sarah will be his godmother, and I am going to ask JJ to be his godfather. I think he is going to be one spoiled little baby!!! Gotta get it done soon or he won't fit into the dress anymore.
I will have more pictures to post soon, from our trip to Washington, so keep an eye on the picture page!!
Other news, Duchess gets to come home today!!! I've missed my puppy the last 2 weeks, but doggy-boot camp has been soo good for her. I had to bring her home Saturday night so I could take her to the vet for an owie on her foot, and it was like I brought home a new dog. Today I will learn her new commands and how to work with her, I also have 2 followup appointments to make sure I'm still doing ok with the training. It'll be so nice to have a well-behaved dog!!
On a personal note, I am finally under 200lbs!!!!!!! I haven't been this small since 5th grade. It is kind of weird to be able to share clothes with my little sister, and some of mine are smaller than what she wears! My grandpa took me clothes shopping while I was back in WA and bought me a new wardrobe for the summer, size 14/16!!!!! and...I'm still shrinking :) I will definatly need surgery to cut off the flabby tummy skin, but not for a long time, I want to have the rest of my kids before i do that, so probably 5-10 years...*laughs* it'll be that long before I'll have money for it anyways.
So...that's my life in a nutshell....I would love to hear from anyone who wants to talk...
btw...Lorrie, I don't believe you were at Dorothy's memorial weekend...I ALMOST stopped there with Jessie....but she had company, so we didnt stop....someone with a yellow car from Oregon....was that you?
