Job & Sporty Summertime week

Aug 10, 2007 16:03

Been having a way too energetic week, but it's all good. I blame it on the nice weather and the need not to job hunt for the timebeing, but I have been spending far too much time in jobcentres, housing benefit offices and the like trying to get some form of income until I start work.

As for job news: I have a 6-month contract in Cheltenham as a physio assistant.  Not ideal, but it is a start on the ladder. Cheltenham seems quite nice-very close to Wales and some proper hills and also only 2 hours on the train to London, so that is good. Just seems rent is not quite as cheap as I was hoping it would be. I will only be earning 2/3rds of what a junior Physio in the UK should be earning and half of what I would be earning if I had a job in Ireland....but some day soon hopefully! It is all good experience, so can't complain. I am moving there in 3 weeks.

As for my fitness buzz....not sure where it has come from, but feel like my old self again. Most days this week I've gone for a jog around Nunhead cemetery, then went rollerblading around London the other night-started in hyde park and then skated out to Barnes and Putney-nice spot. Been cycling all around London as well as going climbing in Westway. Am off climbing now again to the Castle tonight. I have been feeling DOMS all week (delayed onset of muscle soreness), but despite being painful, it does feel good! Well might have been helped by having a few sneaky beers in the evenings with pals afterwards!
