Quotes of the Week and Updates

I really should be going to bed now...

Quotes of the Week: (Lots from Desperate Housewives this week, but I haven't had time to watch much else.)

M.J.:"Mommy, why is Daddy yelling?"
Susan: "Oh, he's just mad because he thinks he turned a lady into a leprechaun."
-Desperate Housewives; after Mike got mad after Susan unintentionally implied that he, the last man that Katherine had dated, turned her into a lesbian. Earlier in the conversation he had said, 'Did you just say Katherine's a leprechaun?'

Lynette: "Oh, that's why I keep having kids, Jimmy--to replace the ones that hate me."
-Desperate Housewives

Tom: "If you want, we've got a stove that's hardly ever used."
Lynette (presently pregnant with their fourth child): "I wish I could say the same of my uterus."
-D.H.

Bree: "At least your mother had the grace to have a paralyzing stroke so we don't have to deal with her."
Orson: "Hmm. That was a merry Christmas indeed."
-D.H. (for the record, his mother was seriously messed up evil)

"Mom smokes in the car. Jesus is okay with it, but we can't tell dad."
-Sheldon Cooper, The Big Bang Theory

I thought I had more written down, but I can't find them.

Very very very very busy. And getting busier.  These next few days are going to be rough.  In other news, I participated in the great community bitch-fest regarding auto-resizing on DeviantArt (pardon the French). If you don't know what I'm talking about then I won't attempt to explain it. It was complicated enough for those on dA, if you don't know much about dA already then it'd just be confusing.  Basically, a change in the art submission process was made that really ticked off the majority of the community.  The change was made sometime March 18, and by late March 19, it had been changed back and the administration was apologizing and promising to work on the new feature more before they tried to install it, having seen the comminity's negative reaction.  Not like they really had much choice.  High-profile artists and paying members were threatening to leave and generally everyone was pitching a huge fit about it. Of course, there were those who didn't really care, and those who were just basically like, "Shut up. They don't care. It's not like they're gonna listen." Or, "You could just leave if you don't like it."

Looks like all the community complaining worked, though.  I saw a few places where people were saying that the auto-resizing thing was like, part of a an unfinished overall update that had been released to early or something, but one way or another it's gone for now and the administration at least knows how prickly it is.

That's something that I loved about Deviantart, and that some of those 'Shut up' people didn't get--the community opinion matters.  It isn't like Facebook, who makes stupid and unneccessary and unpopular 'updates' and changes ever other week that everyone complains about for weeks on end; on FB, we all know that we can make as many groups and petitions and whatnot as we want, but they aren't changing it back.  With deviantart, because it is primarily an artist COMMUNITY, the entire community can pitch a fit and the administration will usually listen.

Apparently there are still updates and changes to come, but I do feel better knowing that whatever they do, the developers of whatever new resizing controls we get know how the public feels about it, and they understand that they will have to be careful.
