Crossover of Love Mode and ... aw, you can figure it out.
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: for Love Mode

A whisper of cloth announced his guest's arrival. He turned, not sure about what to expect, more than a little scared, but having the courage to face it. He was relieved to see a man. Or at least what looked like a man.

"Please sit down." His voice broke. He wanted to knock his head against the wall.

A sneer appeared on the face before him, but the man sat, not bothering to remove his cape. His broad-brimmed hat hung over his face, obscuring what the sunglasses didn't.

"You're not very impressive for one who commands the attention of my employer." The voice was deep and seductive and pulled at him.

He wanted to curl up on that lap and offer himself. But he thought of his lover and stood firm. "It's not me, but a friend of mine who asked. He's the one with connections. He knew how badly I needed you."

The man rested his chin upon a white gloved hand. "And just how badly is that? You have a dear mother who will grieve? A lover who will cry? Get over it. Have you any idea how they'll curse you if you take this step?"

"He won't! I know him. He would want me to live."

"Would he? He wouldn't mind that you'll have an urge to kill, to rip his throat out? He won't care that you can't achieve pleasure by any means other than sucking the blood from living creatures? Most humans are rather particular about that, I've found."

"He loves me for who I am!" But the boy was less certain, and the other could hear it, for he grinned, long canines showing.

"What will he think of kissing you, I wonder, when you have the taste of cold blood in your mouth, except of course when your fangs scrape his tongue and lips and release blood that's fresh and warm and tasty. Will he be turned on, do you think, by the relish with which you'll suck it down?"

The boy was on the verge of tears. This had to work. It was his last option.

"Child, are you even a virgin? God knows why that's a requirement for me when no other vampires seem to need it, but it is."

"I..I've been with a man, but not a woman."

The vampire pulled his orange sunglasses down slightly and looked over the top of them, examining him slowly. He seemed intrigued. "I don’t know if that counts. I've never tried to make a gay man a vampire. I wonder if it will work? I accept your proposal. Come here." He held out his hand. There was strange writing on his gloves.

"Wh-what are those?"

The offered hand turned over, and the vampire examined them, wiggling his fingers. "These? They are my ball and chain. You'll have similar limits of course when you join the organization, though your powers will be small. Come here child."

"Wait a minute. What organization? Who said anything about that? And what happens if it doesn't work?"

The vampire settled back in the chair with a very put-upon sigh. "The organization is the Hellsing Institute. If I make you, you join them, or else I'd have to kill you. Which would be rather a waste of my time so it would annoy me. Maybe enough to search out that lover of yours and suck him dry."

He added, "And not in a good way." He amended himself. "For him."

This was sounding worse and worse. "And if it doesn't work?"

"You become a flesh eating zombie, and would probably consume your lover the next time you met. It's rather sweet, two lovers becoming one. It almost brings a tear to my eye."

"You're sick, you know that? Fucked up and sick."

The voice coming from under that hat became harsh and cold. "I'm a vampire, little boy. This is what vampires are if they want to survive. We have no time for emotions, for love. We kill to survive. We watch while every human we cared about dies around us time and again until no one remains, except for our children, who want to kill us as much as we want to kill them. Make no mistake, there's no romance in this life. Just blood, and terror, and death."

The room had darkened as the vampire spoke, and the child thought he saw mad eyes and ravenous dogs in the shadows. He drew back against the far wall in fear.

This all disappated as the vampire sat back with a wave of his hand. "You're better off with death, you know. It will be so romantic, lovers and friends and family grieving over your short pitiful life."

The boy slid down the wall into a little pile on the floor. Tears began falling onto the carpet.

The vampire rose and walked over to crouch by him. "Oh cheer up. They may even write a story about you that girls will sigh over. Or make a TV movie out of it, and get some teen idol to memorialize you onscreen. Though if I were you I'd put something in my will to prevent that. I didn't and I've regretted it ever since."

The boy started laughing despite himself. "You don't like the Hammer Horror films? I kind of see a resemblence."

There was a hint of approval of the gaze fastened on him. "Please. Those plastic fangs. And don't even talk about what Coppola did to my hair. That little fat man had best stay out of London."

The boy stuck his chin out. "I'm going to leave all my money to a new production. A cartoon maybe, one that gives you the worst hair and clothes ever."

The lips before him twitched. He got the feeling that didn't happen often.

He was calmer now, and resigned. He met the gaze of the vampire, unafraid. "I'm sorry to have called you all this way."

The vampire shrugged. "It happens. I don’t mind. I haven't been in Japan in a long time. Do you think I'll be hungry a few hours after I eat?"

The boy rolled his eyes. "That's Chinese. And thank you but I don't want to hear about it."

"Nor will you. No one believes in me." The vampire stood to go.

"Wait, just one more question. Are you really him? I know what they call you, but you're him, right?"

The vampire looked at him with a kind of mad laughter in his eyes. "Why not? You'll be dead in a couple of days anyway. I am indeed. Though why the idiots can't figure out the anagram I'll never know." He paused and added more soberly. "Godspeed child. You made a wise decision."

And with that he was gone.

The boy leaned back against the wall. He'd been a fool. Now he was ready to accept what was coming. After he talked to his lawyers one last time.

Two days later Tomoki collapsed on his porch and died.

The rest, as they say, is history.
