Erica liked her presents.
My mother has this thing where she apparently has to tell us the story of how we were born. Every year. And every year, the story gets a little more involved because she's told it a hundred times and she remembers more and she has to go into more depth in order to keep us from laughing her out of the room.
This evening, while Mom related Erica's story over supper, she happened to mention that the doctors told her she was fully dilated by the time she got to the hospital!
Because yes, this is dinnertime conversation in my family.
Erica asked what that meant, fully dilated. So, Mom started to explain what a cervix is.
"Oh, I know what a cervix is," Erica said, brightly.
I started laughing hysterically. I don't know why.
Mom just stared. "How do you know that?"
Apparently Dad had to explain it to her because she asked him about this HPV vaccine and it led into a discussion of cervical cancer and what the cervix is. I sort of wish I could have witnessed that discussion.
My little sister is growing up. :)
