SAWADIKA!!!!!!!!!!
BKK trip: 12th - 15th May 2012 :D

Day 1:

We stayed at Rajtaevee hotel for 4D3N, it looks rundown from the outside but it's actually a pretty okay hotel, just enough for those who just wanna stay in for the night. Don't think there are any other amenities:

Our theme for the day - florals:

On the way to Chatuchat! We spent almost 8 hours there because the place was soooo huge it's almost impossible to finish looking at everything. Plus the sun was scorching hot that day, we had 4 iced milk teas, 1 bottle of orange juice and 1 coconut drink w/o needing the toilet haha. Everything there is pretty much bargainable and you can actually save a lot if you buy more.

We had to take the train there, it's about 7 stops from our hotel @ Siam station:

Lunch time!:

Thailand's iced milk tea/coffee is so good (a little too sweet for me though) we couldn't stop buying it. A must-try if you're there! :D

The same goes for their orange juice, no sugar and no salt but it tasted damn awesome. I got the big one for 50 baht and was so tempted to get another bottle! The stall owners were so friendly too they kept making fun of us haha:

They've pink taxis, buses and almost everything else!:

Oh and they started playing the national anthem at 6pm. Bev and I were clueless initially cos people suddenly stopped in their tracks and seem to be staring in the same direction, we thought there was a performance going on hahaha. Glad we didn't make a fool out of ourselves.

Dinner @ A&W after a looooong day:

At the Big C (a pretty long walk from our hotel) for some late-night snacks shopping!:

Day 2:

Theme for the day - blue!

Otw to Platinum Mall which was only abt a 5-min walk from our hotel:

A 7-storey building (B1 to Level 6) which is a lot like SG's Far East Plaza, but a lot bigger with much cheaper prices! They've also a whole level (Level 5) dedicated to accessories. We shopped from 12pm all the way till night but we still couldn't finish the whole mall :O You can bargain for lower prices there as well, but not as easy as in Chatuchat because the owners are quite firm about the prices they set. Plus a downside of the shops is they don't allow you to try on the clothes so it's hard to gauge whether you can fit into them or not.

Lunch time @ Level 6's foodcourt. With our yummy Phad Thai!:

Continued shopping till around 7.30pm, when the shops all start to close. Headed opposite for some much-needed foot massage! Wanted to do manicure tgt too, but for some reason the service wasn't available that day :(

Cabbed to Khaosan at around 11pm (BKK time - 1 hour behind SG's) for some street shopping + drinks. They've a lot of street food there too and many pubs and clubs. If you wanna braid your hair (which I wanted but ended up not doing), it's the place for it as well:

Settled down at a pub called D'Cafe (or smth like that):

With one of the angmohs from the table beside ours:

Got back to our hotel at ard 3am and forced ourselves to wake up for breakfast the next morning.

Day 3:

Theme for the day: Stripes!

Waiting for the shuttle service to Siam Paragon (which was only about 7-10 mins walk but we were all too lazy that morning haha):

Had lunch at Greyhound restaurant/cafe. Great ambience, service and food. Worth every cent!:

Walked over to MBK for more shopping! :)

The had some tourists' promotions so we managed to get free iced milk teas hehe:

Had dinner at a Thai restaurant nearby, where they forgot about my order and I had to wait another 30mins before it finally came:

Planned for an early night that day, but we ended up staying up for some HTHT in my room till we almost fell asleep haha.

Day 4, final day at BKK :(

Theme for the day - Animal prints/headbands!

We didn't do much on the the last day, but we went back to Platinum Mall to continue from where we've left off on the 1st day. It still took us a good 5 hours.

Lunch!

I can't emphasise more about how delicious Platinum Mall's mango sticky rice is!!!! PLEASE TRY THIS THERE. YOU WON'T REGRET!:

Went back to the hotel to finish our packing, then headed to the airport for dinner. I can't rmb what this Thai restaurant is called (it starts with an S), but the service there sucked, especially one of the female staff there. If she was working in SG she is gonna be fired for sure. Their mango sticky rice wasn't up to standard either.

My 1st airplane experience (LOL ikr after 22 years), 1st trip to BKK, and nothing was short of awesome. Great company, great friends and great shopping experiences :D Everyone in Thailand was generally friendly, no wonder it's called the Land of Smiles. Traffic there was scary though, we had to be really careful while crossing the streets because the cars just don't care about pedestrians. Weather was hotter than in SG we perspired buckets it'd be so much better if it was cooler. I didn't buy much though, maybe around 20 items and I only spent about $340 (including food and massage), so you can imagine how cheap the things there are! Feels like I'm being ripped on in SG lol.

(I spent like 5 hrs on this post omg hahaha). Hope this is useful for those who wish to head there soon! :)
And I managed to learn a few Thai phrases too hahaha. KHOB KUN KAA!! :D
Byebye!
