Rnadom thoughts...

I miss the JAG and NCIS fandoms.....people were awesome there. I mean, I've met some cool people in the Doctor Who fandom but I haven't found a site yet where I really....fit? I know I sound like one of those geeky types who don't come out of their basements and sit there surfing the net and eating Cheetos all day, but really ( Read more... )

One of those old fandom ppl popping in to say hello! :-) btw, did you know that every single one of your posts starts off with the "adult content" warning? It's just that I've never seen you post a regular post with that, which is why I took the risk to click through and read your post. Maybe LJ is on the fritz.

I have two things to ask...I thought you might know.

Have you heard the rumor that Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston, and David Tennant are doing "The Four Doctors"? Is there ANY truth to that? While I'm waiting happily for the Doctor's companions to get together, I'd love to see the doctors together. (Have you seen the "Dead Ringers" spoof on what happens when the Doctor gets together with his past selves for Christmas?)

Also, what have you heard about why Eccleston left? I heard long work schedule, problems with the BBC, not wanting to be typecast, to his father being ill (apparently Piper's autobiography says that his father was ill towards the end of shooting the series).

I've even heard that Tennant was the first choice, and he was busy, so they asked Eccleston - which amuses me, because Davies said the reason he chose Tennant was for brilliant work in "Casanova" - which Tennant seems to have been filming the same time Eccleston was already doing "Doctor Who". (It's like those amusing posts you see that claim they saw Sasha Alexander's departure during Season 1 - before she decided she was leaving and before she asked out.)

P.S. What happened Season 4 that killed "NCIS" for you?

Sammie! *tackles* Yeah I know it starts out with that, I changed the content level or whatever of my journal (since I have some smut fics up) and for some reason that puts in cuts for all my entries. I'm thinking of changing it back, just because it's annoying. :P

I haven't heard anything about "The Four Doctors" but, omg, that would be amazing!

Regarding CE, I heard the typecast thing and that his father was ill. The typecast thing, I think was shot down by CE, so I'm guessing that it was the fact that his father was ill. Plus, I imagine with the shooting schedule, it would have been difficult to do other projects. I heard that DT was first choice too, and as much as I love Ten, I'm so glad that CE was Nine. :D

Uh.....honestly I don't even remember much of season 4. I know I watched it, but it just didn't hold my interest anymore. It seemed like the relationships that I loved between the characters just weren't there anymore, and the whole "season of secrets" thing just turned me off for some reason. It's funny becuase I still love the first two seasons and some of the third, but that fourth season......I dunno. I just didn't like it.

"Season of Secrets" - yeah, that made me groan when I heard it. I have to admit that "NCIS" died for me before Season 4 - I loved Ziva, but I really couldn't take the way they had written the dff into Gibbs' doormat (and not even a sweet doormat). But the "Gibbs leaves but doesn't really" storyline really brought on the sharks...I mean, everyone knew MH's contract wasn't up yet. I didn't believe they'd resort to that until they had a legitimate reason to do so (like DJE, every other year when his contract was up for renewal and he might not have renewed). It seemed too early to pull that stunt in the show's life.

I agree about DT and CE. CE would not have been able to pull off some of the stuff (like facial expressions!) that DT does for his doctor (nor that suit), but 9 needed to be a tortured loner, and CE did the loneliness and the near manic insanity (in "Dalek") with brilliance.

And hang in there. Keep looking for your community. Even "NCIS" had its catty groups - I looked through many, logged off of several before I found "Friends". Director Sara and DDirector Bat22 just did very well with that group. You might try Time and Chips for "Doctor Who", though that's a group that seems to be predominantly for FF. I've reached the point where I'm just content with reading FF on my own time, so I'm afraid I haven't browsed many groups for "P&P" or "Dr Who".

With the whole CE and DT thing, I think that series two would have been a lot different if CE had stayed on. First off, I don't think the Doctor could have survived Rose getting sucked into Pete's World. I mean, Nine was *so* dependent on Rose, that it would have just killed him. Plus I think that the dynamic would have been a lot different. Like the whole Reinette thing would not have happened, or it would have happened *very* differently. It's interesting to think about, what would have happened if we had Nine for longer.....:P

And thanks for the encouragement Sammie. :D *hugs*
