Maou episode 08.
Maou episode 08 as I saw it.
SPOILERS AHEAD. DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED.

- RECAP
- THE HUG! *weeps* ;___________________; So painful, so very painful!
- Naoto finally voices out his suspicion that Tomoo is not dead.
- (It's weird to see Naruse run. *snort*) This is a really bitterweet scene, especially with that flashback. (And I have a feeling that Shiori might have gained an image when their hands brushed. But she didn't. orz)
- Naoto tells Shiori about Ikehata's death: Shiori checks the card and sees Tanaka & Eisaku shaking hands, then young Naoto looking sullen. Naoto confesses something about that day 11 years ago. And something about the rain. Then Shiori tells something about Tomoo (was/just might be) the guy who gave her the umbrella and thanked her for her brother.
- Ryo hesitates to put a card into an envelope as he flashes back on Shiori asking if she can't be his angel. ♥
- Shiori picks a card, and I think it's a good sign for her "love". Then her friend hands her a poster about a... matsuri? o___O
- I think someone is trying to take Naoto out of the investigation. Then a red envelope arrives.
- Ryo is still conflicted as he goes to the library. He turns around to leave but finds himself in front of Shiori. He says that the cookies she gave him were delicious. (AND THEY ARE SO CUTE!! ♥) Shiori braves herself and asks Ryo to come with her to the fireworks festival. And the look of confusion in Ryo's face! Ryo surprisingly agrees and it's all so cute and lovely and warm. But Naoto had to interfere! (I'M SORRY NAOTO, BUT INTERFERING WITH MY MAOU OTP IS... NOT NICE!) Naoto asks Shiori to take a look at THE RED ENVELOPE! And by now we know that Ryo wasn't the one who sent that, just by the look of shock in his face!! Then we see Ryo talking to Yamano, it seems that Yamano can feel Ryo's hesitation and questions him about it. Ryo denies it, but Yamano screams something about Hideo and we see Ryo all shocked. Shiori explains what the card (5 of wands) meant to Naoto.
- Souda, Mari and Kasai: OH YOU GUYS ARE SO GOING DOOOOOWN! Looks like they're making a deal so as to keep Souda's mouth shut. And Souda is an annoying prick. G-gahds, how i hate him. I don't think they came with an agreement, since we see Mari crying and asking Kasai what they should do. It so happens that Nii-san hired a private investigator, and the guy reported about Souda knowing about the situation.
- Ryo: He's trying to gain back hate. Flashback to Hideo's death. And we see evil Ryo once again.
- OPENING CREDITS! (Still f*cking awesome!)
- Kasai apologizes to Nii-san (for what exactly?! For being away during work hours?) I thought he was about to confess about meeting Souda with Mari earlier. But... he lied about that, for obvious reasons. He did say that he was with Souda. So.. yeah. I think Souda was asking Kasai for that job in the hotel, and that Kasai tried to ask Nii-san and obviously did not agree. But! Poor, poor, Nii-san. *patpat*
- Kasai comes home to Souda: When Kasai tells him that Nii-san refused, Souda went into a frenzy. Then they heard a noise at the door and stopped. Kasai opened the door and found a red envelope. I think they argued about who the card was for. (It was a 5 of wands) Then they hear knocking on the door, and they both freeze. Souda hides the card and envelope on the book shelf. Apparently, it was Naoto who was knocking. He asks them if any of them received a card, but before Kasai could answer, SOuda says no. So Kasai is somewhat forced to lie with him.
- Ryo inside the red room: Ryo finally rediscovers his hate and the passion for his quest for vengeance. He zones in on Nii-san but moves his glance to Mari.
- Yamano & Souda meet again: Souda being his annoying self says "Oi Yamano" whilst putting his arm around the twisted rat. Yamano resists, but Souda pesters him about the envelope he was holding. Then we see a guy taking their picture. And Yamano spots said guy, he asks 'what the hell' out loud and points at the guy taking the picture. The guy curses and walks away hurriedly. Souda wonders loudly what that was about, and Yamano blurts out that maybe the guy was following Souda around. Something clicks and Sounda comes to the conclusion that Kasai has him followed. And Yamano gives a twisted smile. *grits teeth*
- Serizawa meeting: Okaaay, I don't udnerstand what the hell they were talking about. (More like, I wasn't listening that well. Ngrh.) Eisaku leaves the two alone, Ryo confirms something to Nii-san and well, Nii-san confirms. Nii-san receives a phone call from the stalker, I think he's reporting about Souda spotting him. We see Ryo give a very slight but satisfied smile, and excuses himself. Outside, Ryo meets Kasai. I think Ryo asked him if he was feeling well and gave some sort of concerned statement that KAsai thanks him for it.
- Nii-san and Kasai talks, about Souda I think.
- Kasai consults with Ryo: I am not sure about what. (I think it might be about Souda and Mari.) Then Ryo asks him if 'Kasai wants to protect that important person'. Kasai makes a phone call.
- Kasai's flat with Souda: They meet face-to-face, then someone knocks and opens the door. It was Naoto, and he asks Souda if he really did receive a card. Kasai is shocked at this, since SOuda just gets the envelope from his pocket then hands it to Naoto. I think Naoto is now extending his protection. Or something like that. Souda is a sly prick.
- Shiori gets ready for the festival. And Ryo still looks conflicted about going.
- Naoto goes back to the office and finds all three officemates still working. And they say that they want to know about Manaka Tomoo. Kaoru sits beside Naoto with newspaper clippings. SHe was currently reading the article about the death of Manaka Tomoo, and it says something about 2 people. Naoto then investigates and goes to the construction site.
- Kasai and Nii-san talk about something, Eisaku enters. We see Nii-san with a filthy look on his face as he leaves.
- Naoto pesters the guy who was there when "Manaka Tomoo" died. But the guy refused to talk. Then the guy enters his office and slams the door on Naoto & Kaoru's faces. When he gets inside, someone hands him a red envelope. The guy looks around to see if anyone is looking at him and gets the contents out. We see a photocopy of the newspaper article that Kaoru was looking at earlier and a note. (And of course I couldn't, for the life of me, understand what it says) However, I do understand that this is some sort of blackmail because there is a picture of the guy HAPPILY CHATTING WITH A BLONDE HIGH SCHOOL GIRL.
- Ryo's in his office. I think his assistant told him that they have to work overtime? Ryo gets torn for a bit while looking at the poster, then says that it's okay. Then we see Shiori wearing a kimono looking all giddy and adorable waiting for Ryo.
- Naoto and Kaoru talk and I think Naoto has found a possible lead about Manaka Tomoo's identity.
- Shiori tries to call Ryo, but he doesn't answer. That while the fireworks are already lighting up the sky. *weeps* (I'm going to be honest, I teared up on this)
- Naoto and Kaoru searches through files... for Manaka Tomoo?
- Shiori finally gives up on calling Ryo, and was about to leave when... Ryo shows up, and apologizes. *sniff* (My heart........ Oh Ryooo~) Ryo asks her if it would be alright if they light up fireworks together. AND THEY WERE ADORABLE HERE! We see Ryo all hapy and shiny and pleased and calm. (It's like... OHNO! RYO BECAME OHNO! ♥) Shiori seems sad when Ryo was about to light the last one. Ryo looks at Shiori, and when she says 'beautiful!' he agrees. But I think they were talking about different things. :) Ryo walks Shiori home. Shiori declares that she had fun, and Ryo agrees that it was fun. However, I think, Ryo declares that this is the last time that they'll go out. And Shiori looks all shades of hurt while Ryo is coiled so tight trying to restrain himself. AND IT'S JUST PAINFULLY BLATANT ON SHIORI'S PART!
- Kaoru finally finds Manaka Tomoo's name. And under the entry, they find......... NARUSE RYO written. *gasp* (OHGAHDS EDITORS! PLAYING TRUTH RIGHT HERE IS SO FUCKING AWESOME!)
- Ryo walks down the alley with an evil look.
- Shiori touches the umbrella Ryo returned and gets the image of the time when Tomoo gave her an umbrella 11 years ago. Shiori connects the dots.
- Naoto runs while Ryo walks leisurely. Naoto finally makes sense of the double-meaning behind Ryo's words.
- And Souda gets... shocked. (BY WHO?!)
Looks like the cat is finally out of the bag.
We see Naoto kneeling in front of Ryo, and I think he's asking Ryo to just blame Naoto and not get anyone else involved. Then there's Souda getting all beaten up.
AND OMG SHIORI TELLING RYO 'STOP ALREADY!' WITH TEARS IN HER EYES AND FINALLY CALLING HIM 'TOMOO-SAN'. G-GAHDS THE HURT! *weeps*
Overall, I still think that episode 07 is still the best episode thus far. As much as the ending for episode 08 is a killer. The emotions in episode 07 are much more powerful and raw and painful and it's just all sorts of awesome and got me cursing under my breath whilst crying. For this episode, I did tear up a bit at certain parts, but for the most part it was pretty much a walk in the park compared to episode 07. I can't wait for episode 09. THE PREVIEW IS TOO DAMN GOOD.
