And where this young gentleman gets invited to everything, though he never reciprocates.
"I'm glad I tried this cooking activity: it was a lot of fun." Yeah, he looks like that's fun!
Really, Francis is a very serious fellow. Since his parents' death he's been gloomy. Even going out doesn't do much for him.
Mostly Fran prefers to stay in. There's lots to do on his own. Even when he does cause trouble, he prefers to do it alone. He got himself kicked out of Private School all by himself.
And if he wants to transfer to Academie, which he very badly does, he's got to keep his grades up and his nose clean.
Other sims have other priorities. Zoe and Jasmine are cousins and grew up together. If Gunnar wants to pick up chicks he's gotta look good.
Getting fit apparently worked for picking up Jessie.
Jasmine is studious, with a dream of going into law someday.
Zoe wants oodles of friends, and plans to work with Jasmine in the law field.
Gunnar is going to be a rock star. He knows it takes a ton of hard work but he's no slacker.
Not at work or play.
A typical Shifting Paradymes party. Zoe, with a family secondary, generally ends up calling for them because Jasmine's knowledge secondary keeps her platinum through educational efforts. Gunnar, with a fortune secondary, enjoys a party as much as anyone but never wants to throw one.
The parties at the Frat are pretty busy, too. LFT tends to live up to it's name. Guy really likes Jasmine.
Jessie's happy to help Mickey with that pesky first kiss.
Mathew talked Sarah into bed on a date--mutual want. It must have been lousy for both because neither rolled engagement wants.
Those sorts of happenings lead to good parties, Guy found.
And that would be Jessie and Mickey being careless. Good grief, Jessie, I expect more sense from you than that! Mickey wants twenty lovers, not twenty kids! And it's not like Mickey'll bestir himself to do anything for the kid.
One lover down, and Mickey never rolls another face want for Jessie. She returns the favor.
"Can I kiss you?"
"I think I'm in love." Both roll engagement wants.
Another party. Guy met Jodie and Jason both through the miracle of the internet. He and Jasmine must be discussing adopting a child someday.
Sims only skill or study when they roll a want or do it on free will. So Guy cleverly rolls wants for high attraction items that Mickey will use on free will. Otherwise, Mickey'd still be flunking out.
First thing at the sorority Jessie autonomously hops in the pool. She has a swim team scholarship.
Braids like that are a lot of work. Work DJ doesn't have time for. (Two-and-a-half hours for my boy, and he's only got 6".)
Jessie's hair was fried by the chlorine. That's okay, Gunnar has enough hair for them both. Jessie: wants engagement to Gunnar. Gunnar: wants engagement to Jessie. Jessie wants to work in LS Entertainment.
Monica doesn't like Jessie's makeup. Jessie, the resident vegan, is pointedly not criticizing Monica's food choices.
Jessie is not particularly alarmed to discover she's expecting a kid. She grew up in a commune (not sure if I'll make it or not, but it's backstory for several of my college students). She's got some tough choices ahead, though: the sorority doesn't allow children.
Jasmine is often found around the sorority. I haven't seen this greeting before.
Where Jasmine is, Zoe is also. Aside from being a bit hungrier than usual, Jessie doesn't notice any side effects of pregnancy. Since she's a competative swimmer, she was already eating a ton a day, so this is not a big deal to her.
The girls take care of their house themselves. They have standards but little cash.
Party time. Fran is sitting in the corner. No one knows why he was invited, it's just tradition by now to keep him from acting like a hermit.
Jasmine and Zoe are asked to pledge. The cousins aren't sure about moving in, but they're happy to be members.
"Well, Gunnar, you see I can't raise a kid in the sorority. So I'm looking for a place to rent. Everything's so pricey!"
"I . . . let me talk to the girls. Maybe you could share my room."
"Oh, geez, I wasn't trying to get you to let me live there. You guys don't need a rugrat underfoot."
Gunnar shrugged.
"I don't mind kids. Don't want to raise a dozen, but I'm not afraid of them or anything. Zoe and Jasmine have the second floor so it's not like a kid would be in their way."
Fran wanted to look his best. He had important plans for the next couple of days.
He invited Cousin Mal over. Mal is only a few years older than Fran, but he's the closest of Fran's still living relatives. Fran desperately wants Mal's approval, and despite his youth, Mal is on the Academie board of trustees. Fortunately, Mal has been firmly on Fran's side since Fran was the little tag-along pest at get-togethers.
He got his term paper finished early, then made his plans for the following evening.
The next afternoon, he made a very important phone call.
"Sure, let me just ask Grandfather."
Mumble mumble mumble. She'd covered the mouthpiece.
"Grandfather says he thinks that's a really good idea. We'll be over this evening. And Francis? Thanks for remembering about me."
As if it were possible to forget her.
Fran knows how to cook, but for this he prepares a salad. LFT is always hot. Something cool is nice. His guests appreciate his efforts.
"I'm glad to see you young people behaving sensibly. You grandchildren are my biggest concern these days."
Juliette knows this is a dig at her.
"You look gorgeous, Hermia."
Francis obviously has nerves of steel.
Mal, Consort, and Ty all looking on. The families still approve of the match, even though both sets of parrents who arranged it have passed. Francis and Hermia fortunately also approve.
Consort continues to chaperone. Hermia is a good few years younger than Francis, but that's all to the good. He'll have time to get established in his career while she's still in college. And they're committed to each other now, which makes Consort, who has two other grandchildren to sort out, particularly happy. Kids these days!
Fran finishes up with a 4.0. We'll see him next semester in the ALT residence hall.
"So I wanna ask Jessie to move in. She's good on the keyboard and has an amazing voice."
"She's having a baby, Gunnar," Zoe pointed out.
"Me an' her will handle the kid. She an' the kid can share my room."
"What about gigs?" Jasmine asked.
"Sitter," Gunnar said.
Gunnar and Zoe grabbed another plate.
"She's a vegan. What'll she eat?" Jasmine asked.
"Jessie can cook. Jessie is an amazing cook. We'll never cook anything again."
"Oh, go ahead, Gunnar. She shares your room and bathroom, we ain't free babysitting, and she pays her share. That's fair enough. If she can really sing . . ." Zoe said.
"That'd be cool," Jasmine agreed.
"Thanks, Gunnar. I owe you."
The baby, dubbed Buddy by his mom, arrived with little fanfare.
Buddy's Daddy grabbed him right away. He's not Gunnar's biological kid, but Gunnar really couldn't care less. Buddy's his boy.
"Gunnar was right, you are a good cook."
"I used to have to help fix meals for the Commune. You get good fast feeding that sort of crowd."
Jasmine had the sense not to comment on Jessie's lack of manners.
Gunnar and his boy. Nothing wrong with a box for a changing table, after all.
Mickey came by and was told to pay some attention to the kid, which he did.
Zoe did not die fixing the computer she broke. Nor did she get shocked, with only two mechanical points.
"So, uh, Jessie, will you marry me? Not like next week or anything. Just . . . sometime. I wanna be around for you an' the boy."
"Yeah. Okay, yeah, let's do that. I want you around, too. This isn't a diamond, is it?"
"No, what sort of idiot do you think I am? Genuine cubic zirconium, honey, no slave labor involved."
"All right!"
And, like any musicians, they head off to the roof to practice in celebration. Gunnar's writing a new song about the joys of parenthood.
"Hi Jasmine, you free tonight?"
If Guy's calling, she always is.
Guy wanted a parrot. His name is FratBoy. Guy wasn't feeling creative. He talks, which is why Guy wanted him.
Guy took Jasmine downtown, to Londoste.
"This sure is a nice place, thanks for bringing me here."
"So Jasmine, I was wondering . . ."
This is it. She's been dreaming of this moment.
"Will you marry me?"
She had not considered a restaurant proposal in her daydreams.
"Oh!"
"It's beautiful, Guy."
"Yes, I'll marry you."
Back at the Frat, Guy invited Jasmine up to see his artwork.
Matthew likes Sarah, even loves her. But that . . . whatever it is that his friends Guy and Gunnar have with their girls just isn't there. He's not ready to commit. Surely there's something . . . more.
Whatever problems she and Matthew have, Sarah is totally committed.
She tells DJ about her doubts, but DJ is happily single for now and can't make any suggestions.
The three remaining sorority girls declare a swim and sun day.
Very peaceful. No grade or boy worries allowed today.
They share a peaceful dinner. They miss Jessie's random culinary contributions, there's no "This is great, what is it?" today.
DJ throws a party. None of the three were close to Jessie, but it's really weird not having her there.
And Jessie attends, making it possible, for the evening, for the girls to feel like nothing's changed.
That's LFT, first year. Engagements: Guy and Jasmine, Gunnar and Jessie. Babies: Buddy, son of Mickey and Jessie. Steady relationships, Francis and Hermia. Other dating relationships, Zoe and Joe Carr (sorry, pics super dark) and Matthew and Sarah. Everyone passed both semesters. Next round will add the bin sims in the dorms.
