WHITman

For Whitman, I'm doing Interpretive Reading--along with about half the team. For me, the theme for IR is "The Paranormal". I have a poem called "The Dance of Death", a cutting out of Nevermore (a Supernatural novel), and the poem "The Raven" (cut so it has nothing to do with Lenore, bwaha?). I still have to write all my transitive intros and my basic introduction, and I don't know if I need a teaser before everything or not.

So, "The Dance of Death". This is what inspired me from just any old ghost-story and into Nevermore, because this woman is coming back from the dead to torment the living for what she's lost. It's a really nice poem--though I have no idea if this chick is a ghost, or a zombie, or a walking skeleton. The poem's real vague on that front. I had to cut some of it, but, looking at times now, I might have to put some stanzas back in.

"The Raven" was a pretty easy choice and cut. Poe is discouraged by my teammates--everybody does him, and it's hard to act out, apparently--but, c'mon. "The Raven", Nevermore. My humor is greatly humorous.

Nevermore, however, is made of GIANT NONCOMPLIANCE AND SUCK. Okay, not the novel itself. The cutting. I was going to do something with the Queensrÿche ghosty living in Manfred Afiri's house, but when I got to the "Loooooooove meeeeeee" part--which is what I was looking forward to--I realized how cheesy the narration is around there. So I went back to Dean's bad-trip nightmare, which isn't scary, perse, but does have the whole "Such-a-such pinned to the ceiling, bleeding from the belly, the fire consuming them" thing, and that definitely fits into "PARANORMAL". And I get to go into the whole "DEAN BE ORDERED TO KILLIN'S A SAMMY!" thing, which is pretty crazy. I need to work out voices, and check who speaks where and BLAHBLAHBLAH.

I need to pack tonight. And find all the makeup I need to be beat-up!Dean for tomorrow, and to make miiko_ashida undead!possessed!Sammy. BECAUSE WE ARE MADE OF GIANT NERD TUNA.

...AGH.
