A big fence across the Canadian border? Is this really a problem... lumberjack's and other various canucks running through the border? I've seen the Mexican border...there's a place that need's an honest to gosh wall built. I don't mind foreign immigration but I remember having to hire people out in LA...8 out of 10 social security checks would come back as being fradulent. What a world we live in.
According to the story I listened to on NPR, apparently the US/Canadian wall is to curtail illegal fireworks from Canada entering US Soil. This story talks about it being the pipe dream of politicians to further curtail trade and prevent terrorists from entering from the north.
A wall to prevent fireworks... yep, since America obviously spends enough money on fixing up schools, lets take our huge budget surplus and build a wall.
Hmm, it also appears that I need to catch up on my The Nation reading this weekend. I'm opposed to any data packet transmission tracking by ISPs. The internet has grown to be an equalizer where the common person has access to the same information as any weathy aristocrat.
And you know, if companies are going to try to set up a per email charge, businesses and corporations are going to get a break. Rich people who often, incorporate themselves, will get a break and poor ole Sam Curmudgeon living in a 1 bedroom apartment will have to pay dearly for the right to send 3 emails per week.
It's insane and I hope any such plans are contested ranging from public outrage to ISP "flight" and Senate/Congress Hearings.
