Here comes the Tin Foil hat again..

Chicago Tribune reporting about a "patriot act" ad recently played during the airing of "24" on the Fox Network.

Apparently the blending of a show's theme with a "serious" real "situation" is the trend these days where it concerns influencing our daily lives. I'm fine with this, up until the point where I can't create and distribute my own ad in opposition to proposed legislative or social change.

Then, from The Nation, a juicy story on how the bells and cable co's are going to start tracking, precisely how much and what kind of internet packets coming to and leaving my computer. It suggests that something like restricting how many emails you could send and/or receive would be set up in tiers of service. Offering, a "silver", "gold", or "platinum" pricing structure. Again, I'm all fine with this, provided I won't be charged for SPAM and/or have a more intense control over who I can receive emails from. Of course, I wonder how this will affect web mail-based traffic.

And, last but not by any means the only.. I heard a story on a CBC news report (from NPR) about a proposal to build a large fence spanning the entire US/Canadian border. There were quite a few listener responses that spoke an HONEST truth to how stupid our politicians are. Yet, if you watch that Trib ad, you'll feel like we need to be protected by these same stupid leaders.

Yes, we are in Tin Foil hat land, and for once it's not relegated to the usual crackpot suspects.
