My Better Side

I took to noticing peoples faces lately. But more specifically looking at sides of their faces left and right. When I look at a person head on I use to think I was getting the complete picture. In fact, I was only getting a two dimensional view and my thought about them, well at least as much a thought as I am going to get when only observing was two-dimensional. Then I started looking at them not just directly but from their left and right sides too. It was quite an interesting find, for me any way. I saw a persons better side. What’s a better side according to Joe Palmer? It’s the side that’s the smoothest, softest appearance a face can have. For some people I’ve observed it’s their left side, for others it’s their right side. Some people don’t look good from either side, but in the end they still have one side that looks better than the other.

When I look at myself I like my right side better. I look cleaner and softer. My left side looks angry and harsh and I don’t like it as much. But, I realize I can’t get rid of it nor should I try. It’s both sides put together that give my face depth and character. And so true for the people I observe. Of course it’s probably highly judgmental when I say I can tell what a person is like by the face they present, left, right and dead on.

Show me your better side and I’ll show you mine J
