Even though I am no longer living in So. Cal. I still get to feel exciting earthquakes. We just had a decent sized one about 15 min ago. A 4.2 decent long roller (439 seconds) (http://tux.wr.usgs.gov/Maps/155.25-19.5_full.html). I was too busy rockin out to feel the beginnings of it, but noticed my door swinging a bit, then felt the remnants of the quake. It is odd cause we had a few decent sized ones (2.6, 3.2, 2.3) this morning that awoke me earlier that I wanted. Another reminder of how cool this place is, knowing that the rumbling is attributed to the magma body that this lava rock is sitting on. It is estimated that Kiluea gets between 80-100 quakes a day, most are below 3.0 and are rarely felt, but that is still an impressive number.

anywho back to work.
Some were attributing the quake on the amazingly awesome cookies that my boss baked. All that sugar made us imagine things :) Mike is the MAN!! mmm mmm chocolate chip/shavings oatmeal cookies.

UPDATE: after a scientists review (within the building) it was a 4.6, there is talk in the halls that it may possibly be a 4.7 :)

hawaii, quakes
