break so far... lets go:
wednesday: both ruled, and sucked. i almost missed my plane because i had to drop off my sketchbook in a classroom off campus, and then run back to my dorm, and then drag my trunk back to the front gates and wait for a cab. then my friend wanted to take a "christmas card" picture. okay. and then i wanted a cinnabon. like i really really wanted one. so i got one at the airport. i did not realize, however, how long the line for the scanny terrorist xray machiney thing was, so i ended up making my plane by about a minute, running down the terminal, shoeless. but i freakin love the delta shuttle... its faster to fly home from dc than to take the metro north into the city. i absolutely swear, its incredible. so i got home, finished my english final paper (yeah, cuz he assigns it on the last day of classes, and expects us to change our flights to saturday. thatssss gonna be a no), which may or may not have been received, since my prof is the lovechild of snape and ms fordham. no lie. at least he tells us to make extra copies of shit. thats stage one of overcoming a problem, correct? getting over denial? anyway. i learned a lot in that class, i feel. especially about getting high in morocco, and all the colors involved. it was lifechanging.
side note, concerning college and grades: what does NR mean on my transcript? not recieved? or something bad? i would really like to know. thanks.
thursday: so me and keri decided to go to sjb for the christmas concert and the 1st grade christmas play, this year, entitled "melton, the warm-hearted snowman" (get it? i think thats geniusss). can i just say that, although festive, it was no match for our play back in the day, "the littlest christmas tree" with that little redheaded kid who left in 3rd grade singing a solo. a-mazing. but it was really old school and great, and we got pizza and answered the same questions about college and life in general at the door of every teacher we visited. why isnt mrs barry ever there when i go? it makes me sad, since she still uses my notebooks as reference...
oh i forgot! after that we went to julies, where i had a freakin degrassi orgy. i love not having to do anything bc that means i get to watch trashy canadian teen drama WHENEVER I WANT! its truly amazing, i tell you. of course joseph was being the man and everything, then i introduced him to a charlie brown christmas, and we built a fort out of couch cushions, and my sister convinced my mother to let me go to puerto rico (! i know, it was like a miracle!! sweet.)
friday: flippin sweet... well you know how every night i go to bed hoping to wake up and go back to loyola??! well, that happened, and it was amazing, all except the part about having to wake up ass early and take the 4 into the city. but whatev, it was a late start and i took the train with anthony fiorino and little preston. when i got there, k-ro was there, and liz was on her way. mass was excellent with queeris, and the christmas assembly as well, although i was disappointed that there was no sitting on santas lap. i sung about calculus tho. sweet. ps- i love the seniors <3 !!!
so me and liz were on our way out when who do we see?! yeah that would be luigi, a-mazinggggg. so we went to lunch (after driving around, listening to ghetto beats and such, complements of the elizabeth shaw) and made fun of rolly and oh it was too much fun. i was going downtown to meet vincent afterwards so liz drove me as far as she could, and i got out at bloomies to be festive and such. oh how i <3 new york!!
so anyway i meet vincent in the village, and i set up his ipod while he finished a paper, and then on our way out of his dorm, who do i see but KRISTIN! i almost flipped, i love her, yayyyy !! shes like my favorite. anyway. we went uptown and walked across the park (past the HAPPY PLACE) bc he had to drop off a paper. then i went home.
oh but the fun didnt end there, oh no. well it kind of did, since that was when i had a little breakdown of sorts because of the absolute denial of christmas that goes on in my house (thanks mom!) and, being 5 years old, decided to hide out in my car for awhile. i proceeded to call my sister, who told me to "seek professional help" (literally, thanks for coming), and i didnt know who else was around, until a revelation dawned on me: mary's home! so we went to meet the lifehole himself and crew at dunkin donuts... i loved it. we gossiped and such, then we violated an atm machine. quality times with the westchesterrr seniors! :)
saturday: i actually have to go through my pictures to remember what exactly has gone on since ive been home, terrible. okay saturday wasnt that exciting cuz i was really sick, so i slept most of the day. until my aunt and my cousin kerri came over, who woke me up cuz she was bored. loveee her. now people have been commenting to my mom about how she refuses to be festive (um, she wore a black dress to the christmas concert at her school, much?) for example, anthonys little brother threatening to break into my house and decorate it himself after hearing that we still did not have a tree. i really am getting tired of forcing christmas on my family every year (ohhh who remembers the fiasco of last year? it ended up being my english midterm short story. yes, that was kind of a true story. except for the homeless man dressed up as jesus..) so my cousin and i decided to take it upon ourselves to get a tree, and headed over to the trusty duane reade parking lot on mclean ave to get one from the canadians, a la last christmas. but seriously all that was left was like, charlie brown style... however, we managed to pick a decent one, and toted it home. so now, the house smells like christmas, and after a couple glasses of wine, i managed to convince my mother to throw some tinsel on the tree. tricky tricky!
sunday: oh lordy. this is where it gets to be (a little bit) pathetically hilarious. so the following tuesday, dec 21, was my sister and father's birthdays. my mom decides that it would be "nice" to get the family together for mass/brunch/a rowsing trip to the cemetery. now, what was supposed to be my three aunts turned into two pews and a table for eighteen. since my aunt was too cheap to go to taras for brunch (which, for goodness sake, is the only good, cheap place we have around here), my mom makes RESERVATIONS at the trashy diner across the street from the racetrack. should i mention that this was the "nice dinner" my mom decides to pull the night i came home for study weekend, where i saw a nice lot of my childhood friends (turned drug dealers) while wearing my nice georgetown sweatshirt. ugh anyway... my family, as a whole, cannot go out to a restaurant without a. causing a scene, b. getting kicked out, or c. both. its proven fact, and the last time we tried it was the night my grandfather threatened the waiter's life in north carolina over the lack of bread in his basket. also the night we went to see theres something about mary with my brother in law, and the night we dressed grandma up and taught her to sing "rapper's delight" for the videocamera. but thats a whole other bucket of potatoes, and it was in 1998. anyway, my family and i proceeded to be super classy, and caused less of a scene than usual (maybe because they got it all out of their system in church? ohhh my mom had a fit for that) and we piled in to go the cemetery, with a stop at my house for a little football and tree-admiration, to show that we were, indeed, "celebrating" christmas. barely, but sure, okay. whatev.
now the cemetery isnt the jolliest of places, as you probably know, and there were not just a few stares as my fam sang a rousing rendition of "happy birthday" at my fathers grave. continuing to make this soiree infinitely more classy, my mom pulled some balloons and a bottle of wine out of her bag, complete with plastic shot glasses of sorts, and began handing them out. my cousin john, age 14, took full advantage of this and kept sticking his arm out for more. my grandma decided to sing the irish classic, "toora loora loora" at this point, as my uncle tried to avoid hitting a gravestone with the cork of the next bottle of wine. im not sure how everyone managed to get home, but yeah, thats basically how we roll.
im thinking that sunday was also christinas birthday..? right yeah because my mom, being cooler than me, went out for dinner with friends in jersey. so we had cake at her house and tried to think of things to do, to no avail. i went to visit erin as well, since it was her birthday on the friday previous. thennn i went on an all-yonkers tour with rachel (my first bestest friend ever!) and we went to taco bell and played lovely music in the car, queen and billy joel, for example... and then we went to see christmas houses! super fun times! and then OMG it began to snow! seriously tho, i hadnt seen snow yet this year cuz dc is warmer and oh man was i excited. it was when we got to the sweeeet house in my neighborhood too. amazing. oh and we got stickers with our taco bell happy meals and wore a third eye till someone commented on it... it ruled.
monday: hmm. oh yeah monday was when it was too icy out to go out. and really cold! wow was it cold. and anyway, i slept till seriously 3pm, and there went most of the day. but i was getting ansy (and i had to get a card for my sisters bday!!) so i went out anyway... picked up christina, and we went to the exquisite shopping facilities of (none other than!) cross county. and that was cool cuz i got a lot of christmas shopping done, and we saw allen and kelly at party bazaar and they helped us pick out cards and gave us candy turtles to eat. mmm. oh yeah my mom was out this night too, mmm im sick of eating her leftovers! :/ but me and christina had a craving for mickey d's soooo we made a yonkers ave run and such. i had to finish my fries in hiding however, because according to my mother, i do not eat. interesting. its actually cuz i still need reminding (torie? lol)
tuesday: this was yesterday, im assuming. it was my sister's bday, so we went out to lunch and then back to the cemetery. i got julie this really fun maternity shirt so we can match again on christmas! :) so after the whole grandma and grandpa come over for cake thing, i decided to take a nap, during which joseph decided to climb into bed with me and take a nap too. well he jumped on me first, then he bounced around a little, then he found my stuffed animal puppy (elvis, the one my friends got me when i went to worlds), hes the mannnnn.. once he got me up and out, he wanted to play with the jingle pals little snowman and puppy that someone in my moms pre-k class got her for christmas.. you know, the one on the commercial with the old man and its on the doorstep? well anyway, he loves it. he dances around when they sing, and then when they shake and jingle, he thinks it means "theyre cold!" and runs over to give them a hug and tell them "its okay!" did i mention that he is THE MAN? hes gonna be suchh a good big brother! i cant wait!! :)
i loveeee being home! anyway, what else happened yesterday? OMG right, so me and mary's quest for christmas continued. we went to bunkys, then merrigans, then got bored, and decided to drive around. we went to the sweet house up by merrigans, on the hill with the tree on the roof and the teddy bears in boxes? i love that one! we got a little lost but it was totally worth it. thennn we drove around crestwood for awhile and decided to call lifehole, once again, and go to scarsdale, where unfortunately, amanda did not have her phone on (thats okay! ill come again, it was like 2am anyway, most of the lights were off.. loooosers lol) so we went to, where else, the 7-11. the vanilla coke slurpee still rules, and a rockin good time was had by all.
wednesday (today! even though this is posted as thursday! silly...): well today i waited in the foot doctors office for like ever, and then i ate a lot of popcorn chicken (helLO leftovers! what a surprise) and got on the train with the moms and bunky and mary. my mom was going out to dinner... again. which is cute cuz her friends seem nice. and they got to drink, and i felt like the mom taking her home. so anyway me mary and bunky went to toys r us in times square, then we got mcdonalds (mmm i missed fast food tonsss) and thennn we walked to see the tree! and we took a sweet pic with shrek and spongebob (last year? once again? the parallels are a little scary at times loll) ps.. just in case you wanted to know, yanni is coming to radio city.. lol anyway, new york is great because midtown is so festive. we went to the disney store, and then made a valiant attempt for fao, where we met torie kids, but it was closed :( which is fine, cuz im going tomorrow to see about a hen and a polly pocket! :)
so we went back and met my mom again for the train home, and thennn we finally "watched christmas", this time home alone, and ate a lot of popcorn/chips/linzer tarts? and hot cocoa! we looked at america, the book and old embarrassing pictures of myself with crimped hair (thanks, julie!) in the second grade. merrigan came over for about 5 minutes with owen, and a second attempt at the sweet house in my neighborhood sadly failed.
as for tomorrow? sweet dylan's/fao/tea & sympathy trip to the city with the likes of amanda and kids (and whoever else is around!), and colleen's "fancy dinner party". should be sweet.
pics of the entire break thus far, and the rest of the semester, will be posted shortly... :)
