[translation] Saiunkoku Monogatari Bangaihen 3, Track 2: 「秀麗と劉輝」 ("Shuurei and Ryuuki"), Part 1/2
So after listening to and thoroughly enjoying several of the SaiMono drama CDs, I decided to try my hand at translating one. It's one of the longer ones (*sigh* 15 minutes. . .), but I loved listening to it so much that I couldn't help myself. XD
The translation isn't perfect, but I did my best. It took me a while to ID the file, but it's "Bangaihen 3: Shinboku! Kuma Taiji" ("Extra Volume 3: Friendship! Bear Battle"). The title alone make me snicker. XD The actual files are f-locked over at the saiunkoku
community.
Beware: Ryuuki's scream can be hazardous to your health.

Shuurei: “Hey, Seiran, it’ll be summer soon, won’t it?”
Seiran: “That’s right, Miss. The hot season is certainly coming around.”
{Shuurei proceeds to discuss the aftermath of the events surrounding Sa-taiho’s death and its effect on the palace.}
Shuurei: “Seiran, once your wound has healed, why don’t we return home?”
Seiran: “That’s right. Master must also be lonely, all alone in that big house. But Ryuuk-no, His Majesty must also be lonely, right?”
Shuurei: “I suppose so. . .”

{footsteps; books being set down}
Kouyuu: “Eh! Next is this and this--and try to take care of the matter with the decree in this law.”
Ryuuki: “Kouyuu~! This entire mountain of laws?!”
Kouyuu: “When that’s done, authorize that bill and sign this. Please finish everything as far as the Emperor’s address.”
Ryuuki: “Kou~yuu~. . .but I really wanted to take a little break-”
Kouyuu: “You don’t have that kind of leisure! In this recent disturbance, just as the work of the Imperial Court became difficult?! YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?!”
Ryuuki: “It’s not really my fault it became difficult-”
Kouyuu: “Why is it that you still stubbornly can’t resist taking a break from the work that must be finished quickly?!”
Ryuuki: “Bu~~t because of work, I don’t have time to visit the harem. . .”
Kouyuu: “What was that? The harem?! Which lips are spouting this kind of idiotic love nonsense, eh?! These lips? These lips?! IT’S THESE LIPS~!”
{sounds of Kouyuu pulling on Ryuuki’s mouth and Ryuuki subsequently babbling [pfft. XD]}
{Shuuei enters.}
Ryuuki: “Kouyuu, it hurts! Ow, ow, ow. . .”
Shuuei: “Now, now, Kouyuu, His Majesty is relentless when it comes to taking a break.”
Ryuuki {gasps for air}: “As expected of Shuuei, saying such a good thing!”
Kouyuu: “Shuuei, this guy is spoiled rotten!”
Shuuei: “So you say, but I think he’s not completely spoiled. He’s passing the entirety of every day being worked to death with this job. If he sees Shuurei-dono’s face, while he’s exhausted and wasted away, it’s a magnificent thing.”
Ryuuki: “That’s exactly right! So on that note, I’m going to go see Shuurei for a little bit~”
Shuuei: “Ah, Your Majesty, please wait just a minute.”
Ryuuki: “Huh? . . . Shuu~ei, eheheh, why are you restraining me by grabbing the nape of my neck?”
Shuuei: “Heheh. . . In truth, I suppose going to Shuurei-dono’s room is reasonable. But I’d rather not have to use force to receive His Majesty’s permission on this stubborn pile of reports. So finish tidying up all of these please!”
{Shuuei roughly deposits Ryuuki in his chair.}
Ryuuki: “Gah-! All of this?”
Shuuei: “Yes~ Once that’s done, whether it’s the harem or heaven, please feel free to go wherever you like.”
Kouyuu: “You. . .you’re crueler than I am. . .”
{Ryuuki whimpers.}
Kouyuu: “QUIT YOUR SOBBING! You understand, so hurry up and work, work! Move your hands, and hurry up and finish that sentence!”
{Ryuuki whimpers again.}
Ryuuki: “Kouyuu, Shuuei, I’ve had more than enough of these feelings! This isn’t just my problem! It concerns the fate of Saiunkoku!”
Kouyuu & Shuuei: “Eh. . .?”
Ryuuki: “Shuurei is probably going to leave the harem really soon. She most likely has the feeling that her duties are finished.”
Shuuei: “Well. . .that’s how it is, isn’t it?”
Ryuuki: “It is. That can’t be helped. That’s why, if Shuurei is going to be leaving the harem in just a short time, I want to spend time together with her! That’s only natural, isn’t it?!
Kouyuu: “But how is that related to the fate of Saiunkoku? I don’t get it.”
Ryuuki: “If I don’t manage to intensify my friendship with Shuurei in the remaining time, it’ll be impossible to marry Shuurei, won’t it?! But also, an heir will never be born, and then the Emperor of Saiunkoku will die-my instinct says it will become like this!”
Kouyuu & Shuuei: “Ugh. . .”
Ryuuki: “You understand what’s coming? Well then~, I’m going to the harem. Don’t worry too much about it! It’s really necessary for me to go. It’s for the sake of Saiunkoku, so it can’t be helped!”
Kouyuu: “Are you finished with the nonsense?”
Ryuuki: “Eh-?”
Kouyuu: “Snap out of it this instant and GET BACK TO WORK!”
{Ryuuki whimpers and generally carries on.}
{Shuuei chuckles.}

Ryuuki: “Uuuu. . . On and on, the work never ends! Not only that, but Kouyuu and Shuuei are always right next to me, breathing down my neck. . .”
Kouyuu & Shuuei: “Jiiiii~” [= the sound effect of an “evil stare”. XD This one will be used quite a bit.]
{Ryuuki sighs and stands up.}
Shuuei: “And where are you going?”
Ryuuki: “The restroom!”
{sound of rainfall}
Kouyuu & Shuuei: “Jiiiii~”
Ryuuki: “Geez! To watch me like this. . .I’m not helpless, alright?”
Kouyuu & Shuuei: “Jiiiiiii~”
Ryuuki: “Hey, Shuuei, Kouyuu, I don’t have anything to gain like this, right? So since it’s the restroom, do you need to watch me to this extent?”
Kouyuu & Shuuei: “Yes!”
{sound of bells tinkling. . .}
Ryuuki: “Kaaaa-! It’s nonnegotiable, huh. . .”

Ryuuki: “There’s no end to the work!”
Kouyuu & Shuuei: “Jiiiiiiiii~”
Ryuuki: “Although Shuurei and my friendship is a thing already about to pass, with this relationship between us-Shuurei will find another man! How can it come to this?! Especially Seiran. . . Aniue’s dangerous. It’ll become him instead of me, and then Shuurei will be an excellent wife, and then he’ll al~~ways be living together with Shuurei. He seems kind, but inside his mind, I don’t know what his real motives are. Aniue is still aiming to do something about Shuurei-!”

Seiran: “Miss, His Majesty is always busy with work, so it’s impossible for him to come to the harem anymore.”
Shuurei: “That’s true! It’s so lonely~”
Seiran: “Yes. . . He would rather work than spend time with Miss.”
Shuurei: “Lonely. . .it’s so lonely! A girl like me-he’s only been playing around!”
Seiran: “He is just that kind of man. Miss, that man can’t be helped, so it would be best if you hurried up and forgot about him.”
Shuurei: “Ah, Seiran~! Please, please help me forget!”
Seiran: “I have come to like that lonely heart, so shall we forget these troubles? The place in my heart is overflowing with passionate love.”
Shuurei: “Ahhh, Seiran~~!”
Seiran: *huge grin*
{Ryuuki screams rather girlishly.}
Ryuuki: “Nooooooo-!”
{Ryuuki gasps for air and laughs nervously.}
Ryuuki: “N-no, Seiran wouldn’t go and do a thing like that. . .”
Kouyuu: “Hey, what do you think is causing him to make such a difficult face?”
Shuuei: “Yeah, so there actually were matters that difficult. . .”
Ryuuki: “Ah, this isn’t good! It turned into a pounding anxiety! At any rate, I have to chase off this annoying pair and then go to the harem!”
Kouyuu: “Your hands are stopping!”
{Kouyuu smacks Ryuuki’s hand or the table.}
Ryuuki: “Yes!”
