haunting, gut-wrenching and beautiful enough to almost make me cry. Your work is getting richer with the details - I love the stop-start of the shorter sentences, things that can't be said in fuller thoughts and poor Giles who can't quite think them at the moment, love the discussion of next lives and past lives and the butterfly at the end, and Giles running for home when it all goes south, and finding home will take him back in.

I loved this...

It broke my heart, but...so much beauty in the despair. Wonderfully written. Thank you.

I love this:
"So bloody typical of him, to announce a marvelous great kindness under cover of a burst of irritation."

I think that applies to a *lot* of fathers...

Heh, yeah, especially this prickly guy. I see him as being where Giles learned the art of sarcasm.

O. M. G. Such beauty, such horror. Thank god for Uncle Charles, Giles has finally found some peace.

This explains why he falls apart so badly in Dark Ages.

He's got a huge case of survivor's guilt in that episode, and I've always wondered why.

Oh, this was so perfectly heartbreaking. I've got such a weakness for Giles-goes-home fics, and this was excellent. Thank-you.
