Summary: Roxas reflects
The moment he stepped foot on the bike path, Roxas felt at ease. When was the last time he ran? In the past two weeks, the weather grew warmer as the school term progressed. The air was no longer cool, but humid- sweat was beginning to accumulate. The last time he ran, it was with Riku.
The bike path was coming to an end and the light at the end end of the tunnel was nothing more than the blinding- white sand. Roxas slowed down, remembering his last run with Riku. He had sprained his ankle because of his carelessness- it was suddenly very obvious to Roxas how embarrassing that day was- and because of it, he lost two weeks of training. It wasn't the fact that Riku saw him at his most vulnerable physically that brought on his sudden blushing- Roxas stopped completely and looked onto the beach that stretched out before the sea- it was his actions after. Riku was nothing but helpful. He walked him home or offered to carry his things when Sora couldn't.
But why did everything change? He exhaled, trying to push his disappointed feelings away. Roxas made his way to the beach, jogging to regain his pace. That afternoon, when he and Riku had ice cream, and he helped him up . . . after that day, Riku stopped. It was confusing, conflicting and probably another c-word Roxas couldn't think of right away. He stood where the water met the sand, remembering the times he met Riku at that spot.
The worse part was Riku's 'theory'. It killed him that he didn't know what it was. Roxas hoped, with almost as much power he wanted to be on the track team, that Riku wasn't onto him. Would it ruin everything? Could Riku see through him, through his 'personal reasons'?

Just as Roxas left the beach, not feeling any more enlightened, he spotted Riku. He had a leg mounted on a sidewalk bench, leaning over to tie his sneakers. Feeling the urge to get an answer out of him, hurried over.
“Hey,” he said after a few seconds of watching.
Riku tied the knot and lowered his leg. “Hey,”
“How was your run?”
He shrugged. “It's good.” Roxas felt Riku's gaze, especially when it fell on his ankle. “How's your ankle?”
“It's really good. It's like new,” he replied.
With a curt nod, Riku put his hands on his hips. “I've got to head back,”
“Wait!”
Riku actually had made no movements to leave, so he only stood and watched, his eyes on Roxas'. Roxas, on the other hand, felt determined.
“Sora said you had some theory,” he said, crossing his arms.
“Yeah,”
“Well? What is it?”
He smirked. “And didn't Sora tell you that I'd only share if you told me something in return?”
Sora did, but Roxas only frowned. “You've been avoiding me,”
“Oh really?”
He nodded. “Yeah, you are,”
Shrugging, Riku began to back away a few steps. “I didn't realize I had an obligation to you,”
His words stung.
Roxas watched as Riku waved and headed off. Suddenly, all of the rights words found him but it was too late.
