The young boy praised himself for coming up with such a perfect hiding spot. The leaves were hiding him from sight, yet he was still able if anyone walked underneath him. He mentally patted himself on the back as he settled more comfortably in the large tree. The slight wind camouflaged his movements, as the branches were swaying anyway. Once settled, the boy waited patiently for someone to walk by.
After not very long his mind began to wander. He thought about his parents' reactions to his genius. He knew immediately what would happen; Mummah, after he climbed down, would hug him fiercely, laughing and calling him her 'cheeky little monkey'. Puppah, however, would mutter something about him being 'a pain in the bloody neck'.
The boy sighed. The eight-year-old had already had enough experience to know that his father would be annoyed, so he decided to try and not be found for as long as possible. It was then that someone walked underneath him. The boy clamped a hand over his mouth, his whole body shaking with laughter as his Uncle Nik looked around slowly. Obviously the others had been found, as Nik was taking his time. It wasn't that surprising; the other children hid in such obvious places. No one else seemed to strive to evade the adult to the same extent as the boy.
The child looked down at his uncle, the only adult who seemed genuinely eager and happy to play with the children, and resisted the urge to try and hit him by throwing a twig. If he did do that, the boy was sure to get punished, and probably wouldn't be allowed to play any more. Trying to stay as still as possible, the young boy looked down at the top of Nik's head. He started giggling, and before he cold stop himself, the man looked straight up and pointed at the boy, smiling broadly. He had been found again.

Mikha looked at the large, leafy tree across the street from where he was walking. He saw it every day as he walked to work, but today seemed to remind him of years ago, when there used to be family gatherings. Poor Nik was stuck with the littlies while the 'adults' got to do what they wanted. some of the best memories came from those times. He always won at hide-and-seek, too.
Mikha smiled sadly, and made note to call his uncle and see how he was. He needed to thank him, as well.
