I am finally in Budapest.
The last three days, which I hoped would be spent hiking, biking and horsebackriding, were spent indoors reading and watching movies, because the whole time I was in Grunau, it was raining. I joked with the guy who owned the place that as soon as I paid my bill, the sun would come out. And it did. D'oh! Not only that, but I was the ONLY one staying there, and we were far away from anything but trees and mountains (which I could only kind of see from my window.) Oh well. I consider it a vacation from the vacation. It is nice to have your own room once in a while, even if there are 7 other unoccupied beds in there.
On my way to Budapest yesterday, I had a most delicious accident. Just as the hungarian border control was stamping my passport (which they decided to do twice, who knows why?) There was a big BUMP and a CRASH and the train lurched. SQUEEEEAAAL. . . THUD. And the train came to an abrupt stop.
We had hit (I shit you not) a truck filled with chocolate bars. Thank goodness no one was hurt, and there was chocolate for everybody. I took pictures!! (go check it out on facebook) We were delayed for three hours while they cleaned up the sugary mess. I decided to take my snoopy playing cards out and challenge all the english speaking people on the train to a game of poker and then Uno. Much fun was had by all.
Budapest is quite fantastic. The sun is shining and the city is beautiful, despite the political unrest. I have been staying with my fantastic Australian friend, Ryoka, at her dad's house. I haven't been in a real house in two months! I am kind of looking forward to going home. I like houses.
Tomorrow: Vienna.
After that: Berlin.
After that: We'll see how much money and energy I have left. It will be October by then. Wow.
Love y'all.
