American Idol

I missed American Idol on Tuesday night (had to watch that season recap of LOST because of the Monkey wanting to watch it, too). So I will watch it today. But I was totally unimpressed with most of the people in the "Best of the Rest" episode last night. The very tall androgynous person who tried to sing was the most memorable, followed up with the girl they passed over for Megan Joy last year (she was good but not totally awesome).

I think Hollywood week is when I'll start to pick any favorites. These auditions, I have come to find, are mostly for the LOLs and WTFs. I read somewhere that American Idol is actually 2 separate shows, with the auditions portion being an exercise in Jerry Springer-type antics except with singing; and the latter half being a Serious Competition for a Recording Contract (it's never really been a singing contest, ever since they let that Carmen Rasmussen through in Season 2).

I am also really looking forward to Ellen De Generes. I have always loved her (except when she cried about that dog she gave away, that was weird), and I know she prefers being nice to being honest. But at least she'll be more entertaining than Kara. She needs to leave already. And she just eggs Randy on with his "yo yo yo dawg dawg dawg" schtick.

Lastly, can I say how much I hate it that AI is on 8PM on Tuesdays and 9PM on Wednesdays? I feel that AI would be a better lead-in to Human Target than vice versa. Please change this, Fox. I know you are usually brain-dead when it comes to scheduling and programming, but this really needs to be fixed.
