CIT OPEN DAY!!! tomorrow
Tomorrow Is the Canberra Institute of Technology Open Day.
My mum and Grandma are going to be to busy to take, so I'm going to go with my Grandpa, I don't usually spend much time with my grandpa, and I don't think I've ever really spent more than a car lift's amount of time with him and nobody else, so this could be a bit strange. He's usually really quiet, but I don't know if that's just because people speak over him or if it's because he has little to no interest in whatever people might be talking about.
I hate awkward silences, especially with family.. It's just.. so.. awkward..
My grandpa is a really nice person, but he really really smart, and a lot of the time I never know what to say to him. I want to talk with him about something that we both like, but I'm not sure what common interests he has. We definitely don't like the same type of music, or have te same kinds of friends.
He is/was a mathsmatition. Maths used to be my favorite subject.. but I gradually grew out of it, and now I can barely do anything even slightly challenging. =(
I love animals, and he grew up on a farm, but my mum was never allowed any pets, and grandpa doesn't talk about any animals... So I'm not sure that he likes them much anymore..
I know his favourite colour is green. I don't have a favourite colour, but I love plants!! and they are mostly green. - That's sort of the same, right? You could call that a "similar interest".. right? I dunno..
I'm sure we'll be able to talk about stuff. I talk to him about plants and photographs and other things that I'm interested in that will be at CIT, and he can tell me what he knows about plants and how school/university was when he was younger, and we can walk past the maths and science section if that's what he really wants to do.
I know there's bound to be heaps of people there, including loads of people that I know. I hope he doesn't mind if I talk to them for a bit. I'm sure he won't.. It's just that I'm not sure that will be people that he knows there, that he talk to. And then I'd feel bad. Then again my grandparents have met some of my friends before and liked them, my grandmother even asks about Alex, Mandy, Tara and Jelli sometimes. So I'm sure he won't mind me talking my friends if I include him (that is if he wants to be included..)
Maybe I worry to much. I'm sure it'll be a good day. And anyhow, the point of it, really, is to get information on different courses that I might be interested on studying next year. It's not about bond with my grandfather, or catching up with friends, or wasting time by stressing out over nothing..
The only thing I should really be worrying about is waking up on time. lol. =P

- Horticulture (garden advice and horticulture display sometime between 9am and 11am in the Quad)
- Journalism (info session at 10.30am in room G103)
- Media Production (info session at 11am in room G103)
- Digital Media (Information on courses, display of student work between 9am and 4pm in room F16)
- Plant propogation (activity and display between 12pm and 4pm in the Quad)
- Journalism (info on courses in the piazza all day)
- Media production (info on courses, display of student work in the piazza all day)
- Photography (workshop and info on courses all day in room G14)

The green subjects are subjects that I think I might be interested in studying next year. But of course I can't do all of them.. I'm thinking probably two at the most, to begin with anyhow.
