Changing Fandom Tastes

I created this journal on the 15th August 2004 after I'd written the first part of my very first Sapnder series From out of Nowhere. It sat vacant for a couple of months while I stared at an empty page and wondered what the fuck one was supposed to do with a Livejournal anyway. Then amejisuto, who I met at one of the auto-archives (was it Step Away from my ( Read more... )

well, let's see, I first started following Pitch Black fic. I did a search on the internet for information on Vin Diesel and ran across this stuff called fan fiction. I was instantly in love, LOL.

I believe the first fan fic I ever read was Apprentice by Ardath Rekha, but I wouldn't swear to it as that was wayyy back in 2000 or so. It's also a het story.

Then I discovered slash fic. And fell head over heels in love with it. No more het stories for me, except for Apprentice. I go back and read it again every so often.

I do read The Fast and the Furious fic, XXX fic, Once a Thief fic, Die Hard 4 fic. I also enjoy The Breed, and The Kindred fic.

But when I discovered BTVS/ATS fic it became one of my all time favorites, along side The Sentinel, Pirates of the Caribbean, and SG-1.

I'm so busy keeping up with those I can't squeeze anything else in right now.

But I assure you I will sample other fandoms sooner or later.

But right now, I'm a die hard Spander, Sentinel, SG-1, POTC addict.

I pimp fan fic everywhere, and I'm not ashamed to say I like slash fic. I also tell people there's plentuy of gen fic, and het fic as well as f/f fic out there. There's fic for every taste under the sun.

I wish someone had told me about fan fiction long before I found it on my own. I'd never heard of it. And there are still people who don't know about fan fiction. Man what a loss. I'm so glad I discovered it. I have spent many an hour laughing, crying, cursing, and loving along with the characters in the fics I've read:)

I don't even read store bought books anymore. They're boring now. I'm too spoiled by great fic authors. LOL.

Wow, it certainly sounds like you've read quite a bit! Vin Diesel! I read a crossover with Xander/Riddick. Nice!

I completely agree. My next door neighbour told me about slash fic in April 2004. It was like a hole new world opened up literally overnight. I wish I'd found it sooner, too. I can totally imagine myself back then reading and writing 21 Jumpstreet and The Matrix fic, and probably a crossover of the two!

Thank you for telling me your fandom life story. It's so interesting to hear what others have done and read.
