Injuring your idols and other stuff.
It's been a while! Sorry about that, I didn't have much to talk about recently until now!
First things first a small rant! I'm a fan of a singer/actor in Japan called Gackt, relatively new one actually, still trying to catch up on all that he's done in his 10+ year career, I'll leave it up to you to look him up if you've never heard of him. But anyway my rant is about fangirls who go too far. Now I'm not the type of fan of anyone that I like who fangirls uncontrollably, in fact any gig I've been to I'm usually fairly reserved, it's just how I am, I quietly enjoy the music, doesn't mean I don't do some fist pumping action or don't yell when I feel like it, but I'm just not...you know...*SQUEE!* (Not that there is anything wrong with letting loose like that, it's just not who I am) but anyway, as much as I am in love with someone I admire who writes/sings songs or acts in movies, I don't generally act like a spazz, especially if I was in front of them, I'd be hugely embarrassed if anything, of course it's okay to be excited, not saying it isn't but some go over board I think, a little too O.T.T, even to the point of actually HURTING those they admire/love so much.
Recently Gackt made a blog entry which was kindly translated by the ever marvelous amaiakuyume (I'm quite new to LJ and the Gackt fandom community, if you see this and would like me to leave a link to you I will) she translates his blogs and tweets because she's awesome. Anyway his recent entry was about finishing the last of his shows with YFC and said that fans had been pulling and scratching at him and even posted a picture of his arm with a huge gash that someone gave to him...WTF?
This is what I'm talking about, who in their right minds would even touch someone let alone tug or SCRATCH the living s*it out of them? This was a big gash, clearly from someone who didn't want to let go of him, what are you thinking?! When you grab your idol what do expect to do? Molest them? Yeah I'm sure they're going to appreciate that, what caused this was him trying to get AWAY from you.
You respect the people you love and admire, you don't scratch and hurt them, I really would like to know what you think you're accomplishing when you grab at them like this, I mean I know this is Gackt and he jokes a lot about being touched and is a ladies man (wink wink) but do you really think he appreciates such ferocious behavior from his Dears? No he doesn't, in fact he has said before to not do that. What's going to happen if one day he has an accident and falls into a crowd (which has happened before) and through your uncontrolled excitement, injure him severely? You might think it won't happen but it could.
So please, I know how much you love him because I adore him too, like so many of us do, but please, for him, try to be more gentle and less crazy, only touch him if he wants to be touched, haha, and even then be respectful. Thank you!
On another note I was at another convention last week in London, it wasn't for charity raising this time, it was for pure unadulterated FUN! For a long time me and my friend who I Cosplay with have been working on a Marvel Zombies group and let me tell you, it went fan-BLOODY-tastic!
Scary right? My friend made the teeth out of fake finger nails, cotton wool and liquid latex, the wounds are liquid latex too and just normal make up, eyeshadow, foundation etc...
The other days, as it was from Friday to Sunday, (we did MZ on Sunday) Friday was Lara Croft, Saturday was Lara Croft and normal Ms Marvel, my friend as Dark Phoenix on Friday, normal 90's Rogue on Saturday and Zombie Rogue on Sunday. The walking around the Excel Centre (which is HUGE) was a pain, my feet killed and my muscles complained, but it was worth it, I guess with the hurt feet, made it seem like we were walking along like proper Zombies anyway, haha.
