Ho Hum

I have decided that August 6th will be my last day of work at Indiana University no matter what.  We have to be out of our apartment on the 11th, so the 6th is the Friday before that (and a pay day, so it works out nicely).  I haven't told anyone here, though my boss knows that Chris has been interviewing for positions out of state and that I could be leaving in August.   I haven't told him that I am definitely leaving in August though.   Maybe that's "shame on me" but I feel it's a little too early for that.  I will tell him in July that I am leaving.  If we don't have anywhere to go, we have decided to just pack up and head to Georgia and see what happens there.

Things are a little touch and go because we have to relocate to wherever Chris can find a job.  He has a much more specialized area of expertise, which means a much smaller job pool.  In March we had pretty much decided we wanted to move back to Georgia.  Now, in June, we are just in a place where we will go anywhere as long as Chris can get a full time job (as a secretary, I can get a job in any city).  I think the only jobs we have not sent in applications to were in Indiana (boo!) and Alaska (boooooo!).  We don't wan to be miserable.  If that were the case, we could just stay here on one income.

However, things are slowly starting to look up.  Yesterday Chris had a phone interview with a private school in Texas that seemed to go pretty well.  They should call him back in the next few days to set up a second interview with a group.  Tonight, he has a second interview with a school in St. Louis that we had already given up on.  He had an initial interview with them about 5 or 6 weeks ago and they told him that "they would be sending letters" which is usually code for "thanks, but no thanks".   He never got a letter but we just forgot about it I guess.  Anyways, they called on Tuesday in the middle of MacGuyver (I know!) and set up an interview for tonight at 9:00 pm.  We don't know why so late, but who's going to question it?

So those are good things.  Hopefully one or both schools will think Chris is just the bee's knees and want to hire him.  The school in San Antonio is a private school, which means he doesn't have to get state certified before he starts teaching and that would be less stress.  Plus they offer free classes at the University of which they are a part of, so that would be cool.  Or something.  Of course, St. Louis seems like a really cool city and the district he'd be teaching in is the nicest one in St. Louis.  So wish us luck.

2 more months until we are done with B-town and it's done with us.  I can't wait.  Even if it means moving in with the in-laws for a few weeks...
