Application - Beta For Hire
Name: random00b
Position: Beta
Categories I Beta: Angst, H/C, AU, Crack-ish/Trope Fic, you know, the usual...
Categories I Do Not Beta: Extreme BDSM and high school AU (I can do all other AUs, but high school, no, thank you). Also, if Pearson Hardman is ever a dog kennel or barn or something similar, with associated characters as animals, I'll have to pass.
Pairings I Beta: Any combination of the following characters: Donna, Mike, Harvey, Jessica, Ray.
Pairings I Do Not Beta: I can not see Louis with anyone.
Characters I Beta: (see pairings, plus Louis)
Characters I Do Not Beta: Jenny, Trevor, unless it's less than positive characterization.
Type Of Beta I Provide: (This is taken verbatim from my Suits Big Bang posting) My number 1 strength: I have a grammar hammer and I wield it hard, unless specifically asked not to. Grammar hammer includes: verb tenses, sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, and the like. Second strength: story coherency and consistency. Third strength: what I like to call sexual positioning, i.e. "his foot can't be in that position if he's flush against the wall."
I am not particularly good at characterization, except for Harvey. I know many Harveys, for some reason, so have very particular thoughts on what he would or would not do and say. Other characters I'm much more flexible on.
Lastly, I am a VERY good researcher, so, even though I have no legal background and have only been to NYC once (in 1992), I could probably find out those pesky details you need...Well, unless you need Lexus-Nexis or something similar, because I don't have access to that database. That being said, if research is needed, add an additional 48 hours to the turnaround listed below.
Length Of Fics I Beta: I'm open. Turnaround time is 24 hours for <10k words, 72 hours for >10k words. Now, if we're getting into 100k word category, yeah, we'll need to negotiate. Seriously.
Optional - Reference link to a previously beta'd story::
Here are two:
What I Am To You (Is Not Real) (Star Trek fandom)
You'll be the Death of Me (Star Trek/Inception crossover)
