New from Roland: Integra-7

great. Roland's new synth is a 2U Jupiter-80 with all 12 SRX boards and a one-knob interface. way to go.

i'm sorry, that was accidentally sarcastic. i'm trying to kick the habit.

this company, which made so many of the instruments i love and use, insists on making the absolutely most insulting instruments on the market. the JP-80 is basically a JV-80 with more buttons, PCM ROM, bit depth, and screen pixels. there's NOTHING innovative or even useful about it.

15 years ago they made a synthesiser which was the last hardware synth to inspire a whole music subgenre by itself, the JP-8000. i find it really sad this company can't even catch up to its own digital legacy.

but hey that's the good thing about a market ... we don't have CAFE standards for synths yet so there's still a chance for the rest of us.
