STOP FAILING!!!!! (comment directed to the lovely 3-letter organization I'm chained to)

Nov 03, 2007 07:59

I'm un-F-locking this, simply because I thought it is something I should throw out to everyone, so that people don't end up having any similar problems.

OK, I'll admit I'm not in too much a great mood to begin with, but seriously, this is just ridiculous.

So yesterday, around 11am-ish, I borrow a book from the library that was on a 1-day reserve.
I didn't bother looking at the receipt, since I figured that "1 day" means "24 hours" and that I just need to bring it back first thing in the morning on the next day.
Last night, I came back home and checked my email first thing. Now, at this point, I was already quite tired, and wasn't feeling too great either.
Then I see this in my inbox: "Library Fine/Fee Notice"

erm... excuse my language.

WHAT THE F*CK!?!?!?!?!?

So it indicates that the book was overdue, and I'm being charged $2 from Koerner.
At this point, I'm just completely exhausted AND fed up, I simply went to bed, pretending I didn't see anything.

The next morning - AKA, right now: I take out my book from my backpack, take out my receipt and stared at it.
And I see this: "due date: 2007/11/02 12:42PM
OK, look dude, I got the book out ON November 2 at 11AM, and this is a friggin' ONE DAY reserve, not a 2-HOUR reserve!
As soon as I feel I'm up for it, I'm going to go yell at Koerner circulation, this is just ridiculous.
Fine, I admit I didn't bother checking the due date when I got my receipt, and I probably should've said something to them at that time, but really, it's completely the library's fault for making this mistake... unless their definition of "1-day" just happened to be so drastically different from mine *sigh*

So the message I'm trying to get across here is this: if you ever take out anything from the reserve section of a library (particularly from UBC), be sure to check when the due date is, and make sure that actually matches the amount of time you should be entitled to hold the material.
Alright, I may as well get changed and go scream at Koerner circulation *sigh*
