Kind of "account reputation" filter

Short, concise description of the idea
"Allow comments only from X months old created accounts" or "Allow comments only from users with more than XX posts" option

Full description of the ideaSpam accounts (or spammers) create a mass of "one-day" accounts, usually created within 2-3 weeks (or less) before spam ( Read more... )

It sounds like it might be a pain to code, actually. And some people are good to comment from day one, in my experience.

We all have the ability to filter who can comment right now, so I don't know if this is really a necessary addition...

Yeah, the comment spam you occasionally see on the site is generally from anonymous sources and can be prevented without the measures in this suggestion.

Any system with numbers we use to detect bots will just make the bots adapt so they post 100 gibberish posts first, or wait 3 weeks first, or whatever.

This wouldn't do anything to solve the spam problem, unfortunately.

Edit: Also, what duskwuff said.

Interesting idea, but could people make exceptions for it (eg if one of my friends joins on my urging, and I want to exempt them from this requirement)?

With something like this, you'd want it to apply to users who were not on your friends list, so if you'd added them, it would be no problem.
