Title
Add param to XML-RPC protocol to expand lj-embed tags when calling getevents

Short, concise description of the idea
Allow external LJ clients the ability to discover the contents of embedded content (like YouTube videos) in LJ entries.

Full description of the idea
When using the LJ XML-RPC protocol to retrieve a journal entry using the 'getevents' method, there is no way to ask the LJ server to expand any lj-embed elements in that entry.
An ordered list of benefits
  • It would enable client authors to allow their users to truly backup their journals
  • It would also enable client authors to allow their users to make changes to the embedded content.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Honestly, I don't see any drawbacks. Since the username and password of the journal is required, only authorized users will be able to get at this content.

§ migrated, export entries
