I think it would be really handy if the 1000 friends entries limit was increased. There are many people who have a lot of friends and/or commuities and it's not always possible to check up on what's happened on LJ everyday so increasing the entries limit would help those people. It can also help people who want to search for a certain entry of their friend's or community's.
An ordered list of benefits
- People who have many friends and/or communities and haven't been able to check their friends page for some time can catch up on what they missed

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
- Maybe start slowly like increasing to 1200 or 1500 entries and work up
