For some users, 50 links are not enough for their blogging needs. I use the Links List to organize the articles I write in my food blog for easy reference. In a situation like that, it's very easy to outstrip the maximum.

I agree with your basic point, so yes to it. Also, linklist? Maybe I'm missing something here, but the only link I see on it is to your friends only entry. What specific point were you highlighting?

a paid user can use layers to add more links if they so need to.

Yeah, but I only see one thing on what I think is it, and the page sumary and the basic on-most-journals links.

I had to move my food blogging activities to Blogger, since trying to handle personal posts and food posts with the link list limit was seriously inconvenient. I love LiveJournal, but hacking it to provide fuctionality Blogger already has didn't make sense to me.

Why raising it and not simply removing it for Paid users? To keep the same 'scale' - i.e. (Basic) level, Plus level, Paid level, Perm level - for this benefit as the one that exist for other benefits. I'm all for removing the limit completely but some Perm users may object to that.

Definitely, yes. I tried to organize a community list with links to different story sites a few years ago, and trying to choose only the 50 most important was painful.

As an alternative, post them in an entry or use tags. (Note: I'm not against removing the limit.)

Raise it, definitely. Remove it...need a more compelling reason.
