Title
Kill the tag
Short, concise description of the idea
Disable the ability for users to place the tag in Journal Entries and/or Comments.
Full description of the idea
Quite simply, should die. It really only works in IE, and pretty much screws up the page in other browsers. Plus, people abuse it. So, i propose that it joins in the ranks of HTML tags that are 'eaten' (disallowed) by LiveJournal. Even if it's only on the comment pages. That would be sweet.
An ordered list of benefits
  • Less ugliness for everyone, especially those whose browsers cannot help but warp the layout of a page because of the tag
  • No more blindness from rapid scrolling, for those of us with IE
  • Did i mention how *annoying* it can get? especially when used multiple times in the same entry/comment?

  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • None that i can see, except maybe some complaints from users who use this tag on a regular basis.

  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • Not sure what it would take, but I'd imagine that it wouldn't be too difficult, since LJ already blocks other tags from being used.
  • § historical, markup
