Title
Give 'maintainers' access to 'moderator' areas

Short, concise description of the idea
Since maintainers can appoint moderators, including themselves, they should just be allowed to see the mod queue without having to dig out their name in the community members list and tick the box

Full description of the idea
The distinction between a 'maintainer' and a 'moderator' is a bit confusing at the moment (FAQs here: moderator, maintainer). So 'Maintainers' can do nearly everything, including giving users 'moderator' privileges. But until they or another maintainer adds them(selves) as a mod, they can't see the post queue.

I'm suggesting that since there isn't actually a barrier to maintainers seeing the mod queue other than one of confusion/hassle, that the 'moderator' access rights be automatically included in 'maintainer' status.
An ordered list of benefits
  • Simpler system will reduce confusion.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Coding time, etc.
  • I suppose it's possible that some communities have a full moderator/maintainer distinction, where maintainers do not wish to even see the post queue on their Manage Communities page and will be annoyed by finding they now have access to it. But I for one haven't met them yet :)
