Title
More functionality for changing post security levels en masse

Short, concise description of the idea
Give more options to the controls available at http://www.livejournal.com/editprivacy.bml

Full description of the idea
Right now, Paid and Permanent members can mass edit the security of entries between the options of "Public," "Friends Only," and "Private." I would like to see the ability to edit entries between given dates en masse from any security level TO any security level, including user created filters.

Entries starting as "Filter foo" could change to "Filter bar," or to "Public/Friends Only/Private" and back the other way around. Additionally, entries tagged with "XYZ," could be changed en masse to any security level, regardless of what security level they started out as.

The following old suggestions are kind of parts of this one, and I notice that the comments never say what happened to them, but everyone seemed to like the ideas:

An ordered list of benefits
  • - More real control over entry security is always better.
  • - Hiding stuff from 2005 you don't want Mom to see when she joins LJ in 2011, but keeping it accessible to other friends. ;)
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • - I'm sure this is no lighter on resources than the mass privacy tool already is, and I have noticed that it took a good 5 minutes before I received the email telling me my 2470 posts had all been converted to Private.
  • - I'd personally be willing to buy a few LJ Tokens to use the expanded set of features, but I'm not sure how many other users who have already paid for their accounts to use the mass privacy edit tool would agree with me.

mass-editing, § no status, entry management
