God damn, I think they broke Castiel.
And wth is with the sad endings for the last three or four episodes. Kripke and Singer are just ripping the characters apart emotionally. Dean broke in "My Bloody Valentine", Bobby broke in "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid", and now Castiel (and more of Dean). My money is on Sam!angst next episode... and after all the significant characters are emotionally shredded the healing will begin. Hopefully.
I really want to read some good Dean/Castiel healing!sex fic now, too. Or watch something uplifting...
