What lies beyond death has long been one of the mysteries of the ages, such a mystery that I've devoted little time to considering what my own beliefs on the subject were. Or are? It's hard to say, given these circumstances. It never seemed a matter worth considering, given the only way to find proof of the answer.
But whatever I expected, it wasn't this. A mansion whose dimensions seem to conform to no logic and that available evidence suggests might have some form of sentience? A large number of beings of unusual description? I know of no religion that believes in such an afterlife. Of course, given the lack of evidence, there is no reason that any religion should be correct. Yet something about this situation feels abnormal, wrong in some indefinable way. I must investigate further.
I cannot find Watari anywhere. This situation is demonstrably less than ideal. Why shouldn't he be here, if I am? If not here, where is he?
