for 12 years put down the foundation of right-wing, fundamentalist christian "family values" and morality. they wanted a christian nation, too. what's happening now is what was then, only a matter of time within the republican party. that's when they really started redefining morality.now they have even more help, with the lehays and the people who want to reach heaven faster---they want to make the apocalpyse a self fulfilling prophecy.i had a VERY frightening discussion with a friend's mother, who is a pastor in michigan, who basically said all this and more, with her perspective from within christianity, which is a lot like old money & new money. you know how the republican party votes together no matter what? how the CEOS who loathe the fundamentalists will vote neocon anyway? bush is the perfect fuse & ruse of these two elements.there's interesting stuff on this from molly ivans.the older republicans are calling for more unity and bipartisan politics, the tenuous thread a lot of them voted for him by (a caveat). soon, they will find their votes to be like kerry's war caveats. the real shame about kerry's "loss" (don't get me started on diebold)is that this would have happened a lot faster in the republican party.something will happen where they become either completely scary and neo-con, or the neo-cons will have to have their own party. this is what i thought. now, i don't know quite so much what will happen. i can only hope that as white people become a minority in this country, that the races won't be split by homophobia and classism (white people who are poor believing they have more in common with gw because he's white than the person of colour in his own county, or churchgoing african americans who believe their pie piece will be smaller by the godless homos). blahblahblah. sorry. i just get started and keep going these last days.
