Day after Nid's wedding: Oh it was wonderful! It was at a place called Byzantium and it was so fancy and the dinner was great. The dancing was fantastic. Lots of English 80s music! I was thinking "hell yeah!" A lot of guests were like "do they have this song in the states?" and I was always like yeah, but I love 80s so I therefore am different from the average american. Oh, I teared up because Nid and Karl had thanked me (along with 15 others, parents, family) for coming and during the couple's speach she made a point of saying thank you Karla for coming from so far away and then told the story about the Zara bridesmaid dresses and her Macy's wedding gown. You know, their wedding was all like that. They really took time with the seating arrangements so everyone sat next to people they would get along well with and it was the small touches... like Nid had arranged for her step-father's favorite wine to be placed on the table among the other bottles to surprise him. And Nid knew how honored I would feel to be recognized because I didn't come for that, I came to support one of my best friends during one of the most happiest events of her life. And yet, she made a point to say something. It just really really touched me. And Karl works with special needs people and he had invited some of them even though some of the other guests didn't understand why they were being weird, but Nid and karl were not embarrased by that.

A lot that they embody as a couple I want to have in my own life. They are so generous with the amount of thought they put in to their decisions. For instance, Nid put a save the penguin gift on her good gift list (they only asked for charitable donations to worthy causes) because she knew that would be somethng I would love to buy and it was in my budget. I just hope that I can grow to become a person that can look past money and begin to embody generousity and thoughtfulness. Perhaps it is much easier to see that in other people than in yourself...

I will be taking a daytrip to Bath tomorrow with Nid's parents. Nid's bridesmaid (Gabi) and I spent the mroning together. She was a sweet heart. I'll definately be having a crap load of London friends on facebook following this trip.
