senses and sentimentality

Oh beautiful day! I walked down Belmont and into Laurelhurst Park in the early evening. My senses were all wide open. Snippets of conversation as I passed people with cell phones or visiting at bistro tables. Cars, birds, music from a cafe. The certain slant of light I love at 4 and 5 pm. Color bursting from every bush and tree. The azaleas are so pretty now--white and purple and red and pink. And neon grass where the sun hit. Undefined flower scents and general green smells all over in the air. Breezes and sunshine on my skin. And the moon was out, too--very pale in the daylight, but marvelous anyway. All of it was marvelous--and I use the word very deliberately. I mean, this day, in all its beauty, caused me to wonder at it and the world and at myself and God, and it reminded me that life can be good sometimes.
