Hmm. Both my chemistry professor and my biology professor have within the past day or so referred me to a very interesting article/application. It would seem that UAB has a pretty upstanding HIV research program, and one aspect of this is their yearly jaunts to Zambia for study/local healthcare/improving the lives of the impoverished. Ooohh.... That really does sound like a great opportunity. Apply, or else, is what I want to say.

And ditto to the 'When did we grow up?' part. *sigh*

Or else? My, Sofu, getting a little violent in your older years? As much as I loathe the idea of lowering myself to the detective's level...

Who's the despot now?

And, IC aside, I really want to apply. I've talked with my Honors program director already, and she's all for the program, and DAMN that woman has connections. Soo, here's hoping.

No IC intended there, actually. That was me speaking, through and through. Here's to hoping, too. ^^

(...Sofu does hold, however, that his keyboard had fallen temporarily within reach of one Norma Langley, and requests that all complaints of violent intent and OC-ness thereof be addressed to her.)

Can I really handle not seeing teh Lickiness for a year, though? =P

In any case, there are of course other aspects to consider, but I"m definitely going to apply.

go for it. and a 1000$ stipend is about worth 5000-10000$ a month (w/ the exception of electronics). Currency is traded as a commodity not based on its actual buying power, so the exchange always tends to favor one country or another. The living environment may be far from what your used too
but i doubt youll be comfortable wiht that kind of stipend, there paying in equivalent of at least 50,000$. The biggest danger is if there is teh same kind of animosity towards whites that there is in South Africa.

Yea take it if its the way you want your life to go take it. My cousins in Public Health (which is more like this program soundslike a coop in public halth) and got her terminal degree from UAB (M.A Harvard) so its not a bad school for it either.
