Tell me, though--how are we ever going to have more than two sorry-lesser-of-two-evils non-choices when the two major parties are making sure they never have a chance to be heard? How can we ever get a majority of the population to vote for any third party candidate when the smaller parties are all so specialized, so idiosyncratic, and so lacking in the funds necessary to get their message out?
Am I getting what I deserve if GWB decides to deny my right to 1)marry a woman or 2)have an abortion, even though I didn't vote for him?
And you're right--revolution is the only tool we can use to incite any real change, and NOBODY is going to do it. Because we're too complacent. We're too comforable. We've been led to believe that microwaves and big screen TVs and fast food will make us happy--that convenience is more important than substance. And even the people who think they're really sucking the marrow out of life don't realize they're chewing on a plastic bone.
And because so many Americans have been led to believe that materialism=happiness, the politicians are all too happy to address those issues of comfort and convenience--so really, the politicans *are* listening to what the people say they want.
It feels impossible sometimes.
