Sad, sad day aside--when it comes to politics, we get what we pay for and deserve.

I think I know what you mean, but I would LOVE for you to elaborate.

You know, last night I was saying to myself, "no matter what happens, I'm going to be okay. bottom line, I'm all right." I guess it's true.

But issues of what someone "deserves" always get me. what does it mean to deserve something--and who decides?

By definition "deserve" means: to be worthy of (or so says my Handy American Dictionary). And I think when we settle, especially as it pertains to "choosing" between candidates such as the ones which were the choices in the recent election, I think the word "deserve" is particularly apt.

As to who decides this "worthiness" I think, again, that it is us. The collective us, the people, the voters, who settle and accept candidates who neither are a reflection of us as people and who don't even come close to valuing those issues which we think are important
