Tonight was so BUSY at the hospital! There were a ton of surgeries so we had tons of surgical swabs and body fluids to process and culture. There is nothing like getting five peripheral fluid swabs in one run. Anyhoo, lots of stuff to do. The anaerobic chamber is kind of neat. We have to run the C ANA plates every couple of hours or until we run out of the KV and BLD ANA plates. The chamber itself is this huge structure with special arm/glove thingies that you have to stick your arms into and then there are two chamber valves that need to be opened after a series of gas and a vacuum rotations are performed. Once inside my skin feels so weird. There is no oxygen...hence the Anaerobic chamber...and then we have to work inside the chamber and do our plates. It's kinda cool. I feel like I'm dealing with Ebola or something. Heh. Thank god I'm not though. OH! And we got a stool tonight that had a huge white worm in it. I nearly vomited. Seriously it was nasty. Oh the crap that people have in their crap. It can be surprising. I guess rumor has it that our lab received a whole arm in a cooler once. I really hope that doesn't happen on my shift.
OH and my plates still haven't come for my car. Where are they? Where?
I received a nice letter from one of my students thanking me for my hard work this semester. I really really appreciated it. That job isn't easy...however I enjoy it a lot.
