Chapter Thirteen
Frak. Lee had been hoping Laura wouldn’t find out about Baltar until the evacuation had started and she had bigger problems to worry about. He knew she wouldn’t be pleased.
“Was it you, Lee?” she repeated sharply when he didn’t reply.
Lee lifted his chin. He wasn’t going to lie to her.
“Yes.”
Laura looked slightly taken aback.

The Lee/Laura interaction was so believable - I almost expect to see something like this (perhaps in reverse?) on the show. You've nailed their personalities down perfectly.
I like that Lee and Kara didn't do their usual bristling up with each other and that she was willing and he allowed her to comfort him.
I like to think your words are true - he loves her so much there isn't room for Dee (because as we can all see from the premiere, love is something that just isn't there between Lee and Dee - hostility and revulsion perhaps but no love). I like to think too, that the reason Lee is hating Kara now (on the show) is because he loves her and can't deal with the fact that she'll never be his (or so he thinks). As I was reading the words to a song from 'Phantom of the Opera' were running through my head - can't remember them all now or what the song was but it was about fear turning to love ... The Point of No Return I think? Anyway, just thinking out loud.
Sneaky Lee ... I'm sure he's got something up his sleeve. Kara better find him and help him or he's going to be in trouble.

I remember a few chapters back you commented that you didn't like how much Lee loved Dee in this story, and I was grinning to myself because I knew this scene was coming up where the whole problem is that he didn't love her - or certainly not as much as he loves Kara. My stories always end up Lee/Kara eventually.
I hope its true on the show too, but we don't have enough information yet to know, particularly concerning what they fell out about. Actually I'm more uncertain on the show as to whether Kara loves Lee rather than the other way round, because she does seem happy with Anders (although I like to hope she still loves Lee underneath :)
As for Dee, after that comment about marrying Lee because he was like his father, I now definitely dislike their relationship, whereas before I was on the fence. As you say, it's definitely not love.
Only seen Phantom once so can't identify the song - now if we were talking about Les Miserables, I'd be on surer ground!
