Just seen the episode - I promise not to ramble on as long as last week!

I got unusually involved in this episode to the point where when Lee got up to question Laura I actually looked away and had to force myself to watch (because I knew how much it was going to hurt him and how much everyone else was going to condemn him for it). That was such a great scene, with the Captain Apollo reference. But although Laura was making that comment to show how Lee had changed, in fact he hasn't changed, not really - what is driving him to defend Baltar is the same principles that drove him to mutiny against her arrest - guess she doesn't like that aspect of him when it's not working in her favour, huh?
I am majorly pissed off with Adama at the moment. Everything he said to Lee in the resignation scene was harsh and unfair - that 'liar and coward' comment was totally uncalled for. When Lee resigned I was cheering him on - he's put up with so much of this crap from Bill and I'm glad he finally said enough.
And then the part in the courtroom where Bill tried to protect Laura by shutting Lee down and even trying to stop the trial. I was getting so angry at him being so dictatorial (just because he's Admiral doesn't mean he can over-rule the law) and when the other judges stopped him I cheered. I know it's completely in character, but this tendency to over-rule people when he doesn't agree with them has always bugged me about Bill.
No surprise that Dee leaving Lee made me incredibly happy! But mainly because of the reason for her doing it - because he doesn't live up to her image of him. He takes one step away from the image of good soldier and mini-Bill, and she's off. Because this is why I dislike their relationship - she has no idea who Lee really is. I've thought that ever since that scene at the beginning of this series where she said she'd married him because he was like Bill and attempted to psychoanalyse him in a way that showed how little she knew him. That was when I started disliking their relationship as opposed to being ambivalent about it.
As for Lee...well it's good to see the old Lee back, the one who believes that everyone deserves democracy and a fair trial and freedom of speech. I missed him. But of course that Lee puts principles before people - it cost him badly at the end of season 1 and here it's left him very much alone as Bill, Laura and Dee all turn away from him.
I can't help wondering though if there's a self-destructive element to all this - because Lee has to know how people are going to react to his actions, and I wonder if a part of him just doesn't care he is pushing them away. Maybe even doing it deliberately? Because personal relationships just result in pain and being let down, so it's safer to invest in the system and justice? I'm seeing all this as Lee's quiet version of a self-destructive meltdown (probably mainly caused by losing Kara), but that's probably just a personal crazy idea. I need to write some fic about all this...
And what was the point of that odd scene with Tory and Sam in the bar? And what's with the spooky music? Can't wait to find out...
