Asshats on Parade: Lose the Fat, Keep the Cupcakes

Some People OK With Obesity

I'll bet these are the same people who try to wear leggings/clothes that are far too small for them. If these people can't figure out that their health and well-being are in jeopardy, their doctors need to hit them over the head with a blunt object. (Ironically, one of the headlines off to the right of this article had pictures of Leona Lewis after she "shed the pounds." Seriously? I wasn't aware that she needed to lose weight. So what if she's not a bean pole, I thought she looked pretty good.) Anyway, I'm not saying everyone has to be stick-thin, I'm just saying that people should be healthy and make their health a priority.

But not like this woman.

Holy balls. Eating cupcakes when it's a classmate's birthday is not going to make your kid fat. Unless a classmate has a birthday every day or your child eats 5 cupcakes every time someone brings them in. I loved bringing in cupcakes for my birthday and I probably would've been upset if someone didn't want to eat them. Hell, we had cupcakes for birthdays in my lab in grad school!

I try to eat healthy on a regular basis so I can splurge on ice cream or cake or something else junky every now and then. Plus I run, so I feel even less guilty. But, unless a child has some kind of weird food allergy, I see no harm in letting him eat cupcakes with his classmates every now and then. People need to be responsible for their children and what they eat, but this gal takes it to the extreme. Especially if she's becoming rude and borderline violent at PTA meetings. Apparently her mother and grandmother were fat, so she probably has some kind of mental issues about that. She's terrified of getting fat, so she refuses to eat anything remotely unhealthy. I think this is made clear when she said that Jordin Sparks needs to lose weight. Again, Jordin's not stick-thin, but she's not fat by any means. She's got some meat on her bones and she seems to be ok with it, and I think she looks good. I think it's horrible that this psycho mom, or anyone else for that matter, would think she's overweight. Sure, she's bigger than the average emaciated celebrity, but I'm sure she's healthy. And that's what matters.

I feel bad for this psycho mom's kids. They're probably stuck eating tofu all the time and are never allowed to have cupcakes. When it comes to food (and pretty much everything else), I'm big on the concept of everything in moderation. Cupcakes and other treats are not bad for you unless you eat them all the time. Just tell your kids to only have one cupcake per party and they'll be fine (isn't that all people bring in anyway?). Just wait until her kids get to college. What's she going to do, go to the dining hall with them? Ban all pizza parties and keggers within a 5 mile radius of campus? Seriously, tell your kids to exercise, eat their veggies, and go easy on the bad stuff. And then get over yourself.
