Turns out I will be having a hysterectomy By Davinci robot on March 24th. The pathology from my previous surgery showed thickening and endometrial cells that were atypical to normal cells, which, in 30% of cases, can develop into cancer.

Since I'm a breast cancer survivor (2005) the doctor figures he'll take the ovaries too. I'm beyond childbearing age, and postmenopausal, so I shouldn't miss them too much.

I'm not concerned about the surgery, but I am worried about the two weeks of inactivity that will ensue. That's a lot of time to be down. Of course, since my normal routine is only driving from place to place, going to meetings and meeting with other women, going to the farm each weekend, I'm hoping I won't have to change it for a full two weeks. If they prohibit me from driving I will be very unhappy. I spent the blizzard stuck in the apartment for four days and sort of enjoyed it, but two weeks strikes me as an obscene amount of time to be confined.

I'll know more about the post-operative restrictions on the 16th of March when I go for my preoperative visit.

Congratulations to silvery_scream. He is the proud papa of a brand new baby boy!
