Monday, February 7th
Woke up with a RAGING migraine. Clearly, two-plus days of stress and travel and activity have taken its toll. I was so bad I was -shaking- before we went up to the buffet for breakfast. I had taken my Tylenol, but I needed coffee. How was I going to get through the day? Was this a harbinger of the rest of the trip?!
When we got up to the buffet, NOTHING looked appetizing. The sight of sausage and eggs made me queasy. I picked up some fruit and a danish, and got my coffee. After getting these things into me, I thought I had better get some protein in there, too, if I had any chance of surviving. I decided to go get some bacon (which cures everything, right?). By the time I got up there, the eggs didn't look so bad anymore, so I got some of those, too.
The shaking stopped, but the headache raged on. After breakfast, we headed back to the cabin so I could remove the clothes I had already put on that morning, and switch into my robe for the Naked Photo. On the way out of the buffet area we ran into Kate and her husband (both already robed -- I didn't have the guts to go to breakfast in just a robe LOL), not knowing that would be the ONLY time we spotted them the whole trip.
When I headed up for the photo, John went off and did his thing: exploring the ship a little more, checking out the merch, etc. Meanwhile, I met up with Ainsley on my way up the steps on the pool deck, and stood near her for the photo, all the while trying to hold it together in the hot sun wearing nothing but a bathrobe and still sporting a ridiculous headache. We were standing right next to the roped-off area for the band, and I got a clear view of Tyler's ass... not knowing I would see it again -- and MUCH more -- in a few days' time. LOL! In the final shot all I can see is my wrists, and I can only see them because I am wearing black Sea Bands. Still, better than V... I still can't find myself in that photo!
After it was all over, I headed back to the cabin to lie down. John wasn't back yet, but when he did arrive we both decided that a nap was a good idea, to see if I could help get rid of the pain. We set the alarm so we wouldn't miss the Great Big Sea Q&A session that we had tickets for.
When we woke up I still had a headache, but it was manageable. I know from experience that at that stage of the game, the only thing that finally nips it in the bud is more food. So, back to the buffet for lunch (and more Tylenol, and more coffee). By the time we got to the Q&A I was feeling almost normal, and felt better and better as the afternoon went on. The Q&A was not as good as I thought it would be... it was a little boring. I don't know if it was the questions or what. We got some nice pictures of the guys, though, for the scrapbook. :)
After GBS, we headed to Stardust for the BNL Snacktime kids' show. They were only letting families with kids in to the lower level, and I know that "in utero" doesn't count, so I didn't even try (even though a few passing friends *cough*Nancy*cough* told me to as we were waiting in line). LOL! We sat a bit further up in the theater, which was fine. This place really didn't have a bad seat (and our pictures show it). The show was a lot of fun, as usual, and you could tell the Ladies were having a good time. I think they get a big kick out of seeing little kids in the front, dancing. I know I do. Andy Creeggan joined them (really, he should just come back to the band LOL), while other band members (and extended band members) took on some of the songs that Steve used to sing. Kevin did "Drawing," Jim did "Louis Loon," and Tiny sang Steve's bridge part on "Eraser," which he did very well! Tyler's extended intro to "Allergies" was pretty epic. ;)
After the Snacktime show, we wandered up to the pool deck to catch the end of the Shuffle Demons. What a bunch of strange (but very talented) people. LOL! When we got there, they had just started a conga line around the pool deck, playing their saxophones. Three saxes, plus Giles from New Jersey (a fellow Dipper) with his own sax that he brought with him -- which we'd see later in the week, same night as Tyler's wang. After they returned to the stage they continued the sax jam, while the drummer jumped off the back of the stage into the pool. I didn't get to see much more of them, but I heard they did a similar conga line in the Atrium at another show (minus the swimming).
Afterwards we went back to the cabin to get changed into our Pajamas for PJ night and headed to the Atrium for Mike Evin. He was joined by a drummer, Jim Creeggan and Andy Creeggan (those Creeggans were -everywhere- this trip, I swear). There's not a lot of seating in the Atrium, and we were already a later arrival, so we camped out on the stairs between Deck 7 and 8. It actually turned out to be a really great view. While watching the show, I was also enjoying looking at everyone's pajamas. Some were downright scary (the Hello Kitty guy comes to mind), but the highlight was the two husky guys in the big pink bunny suits, a la A Christmas Story. I also finally got to meet Kelly Light, the woman (and
incredibly talented illustrator) responsible for 'Wackiki Rabbit' getting stuck in our heads. LOL! After the show, we embarked on our quest to get all of BNL to sign the onesie the Wades gave us, starting with Jim.
Once that was accomplished (thanks, Jim!), we headed to the dining room for dinner, instead of the buffet. I liked the idea of going to a more "formal" meal in purple flannel unicorn pajamas. :D The food was really good. We had Calamari for an appetizer, and I had a vegetable lasagna for my entree. I'm trying to remember what I had for dessert... I know it was chocolate. Some kind of mousse cake? Anyway.
Fed once again, it was time for more music. We hit the pool deck for Jukebox the Ghost. It was a REALLY humid and warm evening (especially in flannel PJs!), but also pretty windy. Waaaaay better than cold and rainy like it was on V! I did spend the show sitting, though... after the way my day started, I wasn't taking chances. During "Summer Sun," they dedicated it "to Ed Robertson's penis." Not an unusual dedication, considering ( *eyebrow waggle* ), but I did wonder the context.
Now I know.
After Jukebox was over (probably around 11pm) we decided to call it a night and get to bed. We were headed to Costa Maya in the morning, and I did not want another migraine repeat when we were supposed to be lounging on the beach, relaxing.
Tomorrow: Non-Alcohlic Piña Coladas, and Getting Caught in the Rain...
